  • Mark,

I can live with the popups. And can live with sexy popups. But please get rid of things that tell people that the owners of the site want them to download a program.

    • I'm getting a flash download from macromedia whenever the Wall Street Journal banner runs.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

          • I'm suddenly getting a stack of pop-up-and-under ads every time I open the site. 4-12 per visit. I thought I was avoiding this by choosing the lite version of the site (and I was not seeing them until the past couple weeks). This does not thrill me.

I'll reopen my ad-blocker software if it continues.

              • Hey, I'm serious. These increased ads are a real problem. They are stacking up so fast it is messing with my ability to multi-task.

Something has changed very recently and I will not put up with it.

                I'm damned mad about it!

                    1) do you have cookies enabled?
                    2) you actually have the default style which already has the fewer popups(but only if you allow cookies)

                        • H Tower seems like it's a case of a file extension that opera doesnt understand and asks you to download it...

try another browser and see if you get it again

                          • well, I'm using IE right now another computer and I haven't had it happen to me yet. I have had a bunch of pop ups that don't work and are javascript()open which are semi amusing.

                            • Grrr pop-ups! At home I can block them easily just by using the google toolbar or any browser other than IE. At work, I'm obligated to use an unmodified IE browser which means I have to be quick on the close button in case it's something like Britney Spears popping up. So in no case do I ever actually read them. Inline ads I'll actually look at. Pop-ups, never. Yes, I understand the need for advertising but pop-ups are too instrusive.

                              • Whats the deal with the joetec . net pop-up that appears when you try to download something ?

I just keep getting totally blank page there with no option to proceed downloading Same problem with Opera 7.23 and IE6.

/edit: I've had the problem about 2-3 weeks now, before that, downloading was fine.
