        Rubinic Report, M.Y. 2172:
The turmoil succeeding the years of sunspot activity has been very stressful. Brother Lal, our newly elected Planetary Governor, and his peacekeeping forces are once again approaching Rubinic borders. The Rubinites still recall the first encounter with Brother Lal's troops during the sunspot period. CEO Rubin has stressed the importance of strengthening Rubinic defenses.
Finally, the central Command Console suffered a complete breakdown by the end of the year. Hopefully, the console will be operational again by M.Y. 2173.
        End of Report

        Turn passed to Lord Chip.

Elections: Shouldn't we notify all players on where our votes go?

In spite of overwhelming support from the Gaian populace, popular candidate HongHu of the Hive lost the planetary gubernatorial election.

The Hive has not been an aggressive faction, rather
it focuses more on its own security. As long as we were able to peacefully develop and expand, we do not like to enforce our will upon others. However, dispite the Hive's best effort, governor Lal simply refused coorperation and has brutely murdered all of the Hive's best military units. Chairman HongHu was also able to obtain information regarding Lal's aggressiveness against other human factions. Therefore, the Hive has realized that it is time for somebody to step up and sacrify their own lifes for the benefit of all. Chairman HongHu has announced that the Hive will build a strong army within 5 years with preparation of a full aggressive war toward the peacekeepers.

            • Ok, as of yet my forest has not expanded one single time. This is not normal and a real nuisance. Anyone else has noticed the same thing (not Rubin, I get messages about his forests expanding every turn).

Brother Lal has been elected Governor of planet, due to the support from from Santiago and Miriam. It is worrying that Lal has these two under his wings. What could he possibly have to offer, Lal is not known to get along with those two. He's been quite aggressive since we landed, only holding back due to the fact that I'm much more valuable as a friend than an enemy. Could something have happened to Lal since planetfall causing this deviant behavior, or is he under someone elses control?

It appears that everyone was not pleased with the results. The runner up in the election, Chairman HongHu has announced his plans to decimate Lal's empire. A well needed action which we support fully. In spirit, atleast. But things are not what they seem. We need more knowledge.

                Rubinic Report, M.Y. 2173:
The glorious Chairman HongHu has sent his first emissary to the Rubinites. Contrary to Brother Lal's emissaries, the Hive is not sending military troops. CEO Rubin has hopes that this meeting opens new business options with the Hive.

Turn passed to Lord Chip of the Gaians.

I got a reload warning performed by the University. Also, I still don't know were the rest of the votes went. Am I supposed to figure out this myself, or should these results be posted explicitly?

The Rubinites have lost all contact with the hivean vessel. The dramatic increase in native lifeforms near Rubinic territory may be responsible for this. Also, CEO Rubin congratulates Provost Gufnork on the completion of the Longevity Vaccine.

                            • The Hive and the University have declared vendetta on Gaia! Political leaders insist that there must have been a mistake and are suing for peace. Diplomatic sources point to Peacekeeper plot.

--The New Gaian Times, page 1

I had warned the Hive that Lal was pressuring me to declare a vendetta against him. I had told Chairman HongHu that if Lal forced me to make such a declaration, I would immediately offer to renew the treaty. This is what happened. I have made the offer and await the Hive's response.

I was, however, unprepared for the speed with which Provost Gufnork declared his own vendetta against me. My hope was that the Hive and I would again be friends before Provost Gufnork ever discovered that there was a falling out.

Will the Hive punish me for succumbing to "Peacekeeper" pressure? Or will he accept my explanation and offer? If I can remain friends with the Hive, will Lal seek retribution for my failure to honor the declaration I made to him?

And what of Provost Gufnork? If the declaration of vendetta was but the reflex of the military, can I persuade the diplomats as to the true political situation? Or was this declaration a manifestation of hitherto unknown animosity?

The other neighboring giant, Colonel Santiago, has yet to speak to the matter. Is this because she has not heard of the commotion, or is she sitting quietly, waiting to pick up whatever pieces are left after the confrontation?

CEO Rubin is silent. Although he has been a ready partner in economic matters, I question his ability to provide military aid. What is his relationship to the super-power? Can he provide additional diplomatic help?

If Chairman HongHu takes offense, we have no choice but to align ourselves with the despicable Lal, for his is the only force on the planet that could hope to stand up to HongHu. Perish the thought!

We are but pawns in the chess match of the titans.

This is yet the worst situation the Human Hive ever faced since the landfall. Our newly formed marine force again suffered a great loss. Another foil of us encountered the believers and the spartans. Wars are declared against us. Our foil had to retreat to CEO Rubin's territory in the hope for protection of our treaty partenor. Chairman HongHu furiously refused Lal's offer of truce. She vows to revenge for all the fallen comrades.

To make things worse, the Hive has lost contact with Provost Gufnork and was informed that the Gaian was forced to declare Vendatte against us. Chairman HongHu was relieved to see that the Gaian has proposed a renew of the treaty. Friendships are treasured dearly in this difficult time.
