Our short-term research goal is Intellectual Integrity, as we wish to build the CDF (we share a fairly long border with Yang, and in the inevitable conflict we'd rather not fight him with one hand tied behind our backs)

But we need to get Doc Loyalty in order to proceed, so that will be our immediate goal (we could probe it from Yang, but that will prolly trigger the vendetta that we're not quite ready to face yet, so would rather acquire it by other means, with self-research as a last resort). We will likely switch next year to Doc Loyalty when our current research effort matures

We were therefore wondering if you would be interested in a combined project to research Intellectual Integrity. We think this tech is not only useful for us, but also for you, as it is together with AdapEcon, which you will soon have, a prerequisite for Planetary Economics and the Ascetic Virtues, which you indicated you consider an important secret project for you.

As to longer term co-operation in leapfrogging - we see Doc Air as a distinct possibility. We both have Gene Splicing and in a few turns we expect to acquire HEC, prereqs for SFF, and if we both researched that, as soon as one had it the other could switch to Doc Air.

There are other possibilities - for example, sharing in the cost of acquiring Env Econ in a few years, and other such deals

But there's some food for thought there , and we await your reply with interest

I guess with the imminent transmission to us from the Angels of Doc Loyalty, we'll change to that next turn, then to Int Int when we accept Loyalty (Maniac, as the resident decipherer of the tech charts, can you confirm that we'll be offerred Int Int)

We prolly need to amend our messages to Morgan now thjat we don't need them to leapfrog with us thru Doc Loyalty

If we have to pick a new research project next year without yet having DocLoy, our only three choices will be: Centauri Empathy, Progenitor Psych, and Environmental Economics. And thus not Doctrine:Loyalty.

However the solution is simple of course: We pick EnvEcon as our research project, steal it from the University, and - provided we have DocLoy - then we will be able to select Intellectual Integrity.

While it is not yet 100% official, most of Morgan Industries is in favor of us jointly researching to D AP. The details and conditions have not been finalized, but a simple example would be:

As the terms of our Treaty are currently under consideration for renewal, we would like to revoke the status of Mr. Moneypenny as an observor aboard the SCC Hunter.

We have found - for those six years he has been on board - that our exploration style has been somewhat cramped, as we have avoided going where sensitive cartographical information known to us already might be revealed. This has resulted in less than optimal operating efficiency for the Hunter.

At this stage I wouldn't offer them the concession of our taking 1/2 of net profit - let them come back to us if they want to renogatiate that deal

Lal has researched High Energy Chemistry this year btw, and is now researching EcolEng (Zak hasn't given any tech to Lal lately ). Besides HEC, anything that Morgan could buy from Lal he could also buy from Zak.

Maybe. I don't think they're treatied, or the Morgans would probably get a +1 trading bonus from UB (the screenshot indicates no such bonus). Can't we just check the Unis infiltration data to see their relations with the Morgans?

That said, they'll probably run into the PK:s soon enough, so we should try to sell them their commlink for a decent sized sum. 60 ec:s over 10 years?
