Add to that the fact that Yang would be mostly doing the work for us. However, there is the danger that the Gaians, being humans, could outwit Yang and gobbel up his empire at our expense. That would, well, suck. It would be a worthy maneuvre to make him weaker and then get him with his pants down in a two-front war.

It is a possibility worth pondering over.

I am afraid we will have to go vendetta on the Gaians to usher Yang after them. And that would have very far-fetching consequences.

Edit: Googlie: The Gaian vendetta would almost be worth all that tech alone. Good god, if we managed to get that friendly with Yang... good god. Two words: Unholy Alliance.
the gaians are in no position to battle the hive at this point. I'm certain. But later after they switch into war mode, they may. But that will be many wasted turns of not building infrastructer/expanding.

    • after reading all the posts. I have a few thoughts.

I think it is risky sending the hive against 2 factions. I prefer 1. Morganites being that one. It will get suspicious if they attack 2- very supsicious. And we increase the likelihood of 3 human factions against the hive and Sparta.

The hive attacking 1 faction would not be out of the ordinary- esp. considering how powerful they think they are (and they really are up in the power charts).

I'm still undecided on whether to ally with them. There are pros and cons. Initially I think we should stay out of an alliance with them. Dealing with the human factions is far more important than the AI one. And I don't think we'll get much tech from the hive unless they have probe teams.

So at this stage of the game, I don't think we should get too adventurous. I say we obtain Morganites comm link, possibly get a loan, ask them to declare war on the the morganites, pop the pods, try to obtain laser weapons, switch research etc.

        Ah that's great!
If finished and brought up to date, would you be willing to upload the simulator?

I have to agree. Not pacting with Yang means we won't get his tech, but a treaty status gives us much more leverage when making "requests" to the victim faction. "He's wanting to pact with us to help him out in this war, we could really use the pact, do you have anything lucrative to offer to persuade us to not join him?"
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

              But of course

(It's slow going, though, trying to replicate the map. I have the 2123 turn open on my laptop as a reference (zoomed out so that I can see the contours) and am painstakingly building it almost tile by tile on my desktop to try and replicate it. Getting the elevations approximate (I settle for +/- 200 meters, unless it breeches a 1000 meter breakpoint) is the hardest. Rivers, fungus, etc is easy (but coastal tiles are also difficult)

I have ours and Yang's pretty much done, but as we move away from known reference points it definitely gets harder.

Then will come the placing of the other factions - I'll use my deduction map as a source, although it may prove to be wildly offside

So what I'm saying is - it's prolly a two or three "leisurely" day job rather than 1 "intense" evening

We have purchased Applied Physics from the Hive. None of the other 3 human teams yet have this tech.

                • Here'sa the screenie for the powercharts from the 2124 save.

(Note, just in the pic, our boys at the monolith!!)

All 3 factions remain at 5 pops (we think 4 bases each, 5 pops) We are at 4 bases & 4 pops now, with 5 bases & 5 pops next turn and 5 & 6 turn thereafter

                  • Gosh, Morganites already got IA? This is early. They must be really crunching the numbers and playing everything well and efficiently.

Can we safetly assume that the Morganites will have a good batch of 16+ min bases by 2140? At the same time that our bases will be producing 5-8 minerals, unless we get IA soon. Well, I guess we'll start to see the powerchart soar.

BTW, in the last ACDG, who was the last team to get IA, and how much did it hurt them?

                    • Hmm - I don't remember. I do know that the winners, thew Drones/Hive axis, were the first (even before the UoP, if I'm not mistaken)

from the above pic, I find it interesting that 3 of us have virtually caught up with the PK's. They seem like a soft target, but rats ..... where the heck are they?

                      • Right next door? Hopefully the creators gave us a fair shot at them. I mean, they must have given us at least 1 nearby target besides Yang. Zakharov wouldn't be too shabby either. We could probe oodles of tech off of him.
