    Base # 4 name?

I suggest Samurai Complex or Snipers' College

(and time to update the Basename and Unit Inventory)

We could designate the crater bases as "fort" territory (eg Fort Craterwest, Fort Craternorth, etc, or Eastcrater Fort, Southcrater Fort, etc)

But I must admit to liking the more traditional names like Fort Superiority, Fort Liberty, Freedom Fortress, Protection Fortress, etc

A little note: I haven't updated the first post with new suggestions for a long time. So if anybody wants to add their suggestions to the big list, just edit my first post to include them.

We could always name bases along major borders Fort Whatever; given that they would likely be heavily fortified and sued to train troops, this would seem appropriate.

that makes sense too (if we do have a landmass border, it'll either be south of us or to the east of SC1)

we do need a basename for #4, though, for Maniac to use next turn. As these bases will be (somewhat) minerals rich they might become be our industrial/military heartland, so names like Crater Barracks, Camp Crater, and Ironholm (very apropos for a base with an extra mineral goody) might be appropriate

Looking at the 2117 map, I'm thinking that Rio Rosso might better describe the river that starts in the Fungal Wall and runs south (where Chiron Knights encountered the mindworm)

(And the river that was Rio Rosso, being fairly small, could become Gunrunners' Creek)

And Base #4 will be established next turn (2118). What's it to be called?

                  River names switched.

Two base name suggestions in case we use the next SC1 CP to build a base on (62.16):
                  Olympus Academy, or
                  Cloudbase Academy

And we have to explore our eastern continent (east of the mountains and SC1)

I guess that's Rolling Thunder's job after it's popped the pod next to it, and fought off any potential mindworms from that or a foil-popped IoD

                      Indeed.

Btw, how about calling our Ogre "Shrek"?

A wee bit of fine-tuning is needed to put the mountain names at their peaks. This involves moving a couple of rivernames a tile over, to allow for the 2-tile separation between landmarks. Thus:

Okay, I'll do it next turn.
Just for the record, the reason I placed Mount Olympus at (62.16) was because I kinda considered the four tiles (61.15)-(62.14)-(63.15)-(62.16) as the summit, and more specifically the point connecting these four tiles, as that seemed to stick out higher than any of the four surrounding tiles.

Btw, on another note, since we'll get our first former next year, I was wondering. Should we also give our terraforming units names (as members of the Engineering Corps) like other military units, or should we leave them in anonimity like civilian workers?

I did it for the 2119 turn

I agree - from the map it does look like that rocky tile (with the pod on it) is the highpoint, but it's only 2792 meters, versus 2872 for the fungal tile southeast of it

Being a militaristic faction I like the idea of the Engineering Corps running our terraforming (Morgan can have his civilian contractors)

Here is a great website chock full of info and pics of US support vehicles (they like names for the non-combatant ones like GRIZZLY, Wolverine and Lynx)
