Well damn. I thought I was supposed to play from the main turn and avoid a corruption. Now I see you are right. But if I try to play your turn it'll give the played warning, as I've played the original version of the turn.
What to do? I just finished playing the turn and made an Angels save. I'm ready to roll, but you are right r/e the turn info.
I downloaded your turn and will try to play it if I don't get a warning.Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Join us for our first Succession Game

I played your turn and had the same error +24 credit refund. I did not try to check other things to see if it is on the wrong difficulty level, but I suggest we do not play from that turn. There is something seriously wrong there....Here is my Angel turn if you would please post it to the ACDG thread when you feel comfortable with my logic on this issue. We should talk to Drogue and explain the situation as well. Clearly there is no other recourse.Attached FilesAldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Join us for our first Succession Game

To consider: We did not gain any advantage that I can see by my playing the turn from the beginning. The only issue is the popping of the pod in our northern reaches, but you can see from my turn reccomendations that I would not have done that anyways. I played as I'd prescribed last turn with the exception of moving our baby worms to the pier for loading. I had said that a rover was less good than a worm and I followed through on that logic as well. So there is not an inconsistency in our play, nor an advantage.
So, when you are ready, you can upload the turn I posted here to the turn tracking thread. I won't do it myself b/c you may want to try and contact Drogue for advice beforehand. I'll be checking in hourly.

I contacted Drogue, but there are differences in turn play. It is up to Drogue to decide what to do next. It is true that we gained noa dvantage with your turn play, although I diasagree on not loading the Unity Rover. Oh, and when I open your turn I get reload warning ?SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

The turn I posted here is after the end-turn. The turn I posted to our turn thread is a presend save. Here's the presend save again:
Edit: You will get turn-played messages because you have played that turn on your machine. Rename it and try again. I get no such message when playing from the pre-send save myself...Attached FilesLast edited by smacksim; September 5, 2004, 16:02.Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Well, Drogue should just mention what happened to all the other teams....something like:
"The Gaians experienced a bug during turn-play which affected the apparent game difficulty level. Thankfully they caught this bug and replayed the turn on a different machine, which reported no errors. The Gaians did not gain any advantage by having partially played the turn twice. Please check the SE table settings for your team to determine if you are getting any errors in switching and prices. Thanks, Drogue."Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Ok I've had a look at the details, and IMHO using smacksim's turn is the easiest way. If there was a massive advantage, I'd have to ask for a replay, but there isn't, and the bug does seem strange. I think smacksim's advice is good too, try to reinstall it and see if it does it still. Hopefully it should right itself. For the moment though, use the smacksim save.

Plan of Action for 2135
After some odd turn bugs, we got the turn off with minutes to spare in the 48 hour limit, thanks to Drogue's timely intervention and dissemination of our turn issues. That aside, here's a look at a plan of action for 2135:
Continue with Probe Builds, retreat on Angel land, former work building roads, and the ferrying of units to the north.
There are lots of pods to pop up north. Let's be cautious while we have non-natives in the area that could get squashed by a big worm explosion.
Ferry: We are prepared to ship a mindworm to the north, while our probe team would be a good second unit. That will be in several turns b/c the fungus is largely in our way with the foil.
We also have our original spore launcher prepared to explore towards the SE land bridge. There is a single pod on our east coast that could be popped on the return trip.
Formers: We need to make some decisions about what to terraform. Clearly we need to pave the way to new base sites, but it may yet be worthwhile to do more interior-block work with forest planting and pre-roading for later terraforming.
SE table: We are running 50/0/50 Planned, which gives us IA in 4 turns. There was the possibility to adjust this to 30/0/70 for IA in 3 turns, but I think we will still make it in 3 turns as our population is due to grow and some forests are coming online, as well as solar. Thus, I kept the sliders at 50/0/50 which gives a significant EC return. Useful for rushing our probe teams and gimps.

Our Production: We are making lots of ECs which are being used to rush our probe teams, in hopes of grabbing an early secret project. We are building quite a probe army. This plan works best if we stick with it. Anyone care to calculate how many more turns until we can disband-rush the Human Genome Project with our current units and rush-rate?Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Since it's inside the time limit, I'll probably avoid mentioning it to other teams, unless requested. if they ask, I'll just say it's a technical problem.Smile

Yes, considering the turn played fine for me, it's highly unlikely that the bug was in the savegame, and is some problem with Illuminatus' install.....we hope!Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Join us for our first Succession Game
