  • We should test if we can choose Cyber or at least Optical as the next tech.
I can do it by opening the next turn and checking if I do not have to actually play it later.

    Lord BinTravkin,

As you are able to confirm from our databanks, we will complete research on Presentient Algorythms in 2189, which is one turn after you will have researched Centauri Meditation in 2188. For this reason, we will have a gap of 2 turns, since we are after you in turn order. There is although a solution to this problem:

If Gaian Union in 2188 chooses Cyberethics as the next research technology, after receiving from us:
    - Cyberethics
    - Presentient Algorythms
forwarded from us in 2189 and received by you in 2190, Gaian Union will be able to switch the research effort without loss of lab points in 2190 to Orbital Spaceflight.

Please confirm our analysis, so there is no error in our plan.

    Sincerely,
    Data Angels
    IT Mart

    IT Mart

The Gaian Union agrees on the deal described in your Cooperation Proposal:

    1.Recieving the technologies of:
    Cyberethics
    Presentient Algorythms
from Data Angels in MY 2188 (is this possible?)

    2.Researching Orbital SpaceFlight

3.Exchanging the Orbital SpaceFlight with Data Angels' newly researched Fusion Power technology.

Although the technology of Orbital SpaceFlight alone is extremely valuable, Gaian Union will feel somewhat indebted to Data Angels, which we hope to pay back in future by having further beneficial-to-both-sides deals and good relations.
We are in no position right now to divert energy as a payment for any value difference the deal might have because of need to rapidly expand our infrastructure and catch up with other factions, including Data Angels themselves.

    In hope of longtime cooperation,
    Lord binTravkin

    • To Gaian Union,

Here are some recent finds pertaining to our operation of exchanging the abilities of drop and clean units. It is very important, that we both understand implications.

It appears, that when a drop-militia unit or any other drop scout unit is transferred to a faction for backengineering, it turns out to be just a scout.

I have checked the stuff in scenario editor and the fact is, that it seems to be the regular game feature. I tried two scouts with drop ability, different designs and they turned out to be simple scouts after turning over the control. Then I tried 1^-2-1 unit and it retained its drop ability. Then we have no choice here, but continue with transferring to you, Gaians our drop-AAA unit.

I have more bad news. I further tried to simulate our operation using actual drop-AAA. I was succesful to drop it and transfer control, but when the same unit was transferred back after upgrade to clean, drop it turned out to be again drop-AAA NOT clean!!! I tried with a new unit, and it worked the same, again it became after the transfer an AAA one NOT clean!

I attempted to backengineer the drop-AAA into drop, clean former, worked ok. After transfer the unit retained its capability as clean drop former. So we have no choice, but:
      1) We drop to you our "drop-AAA unit"
      2) You backengineer it to drop, clean former
      2) You make drop, clean former and drop it back to us.

      I checked also:
      - making drop,clean former takes 5 rows!
      upgrading either:
      - former
      - clean former
to drop, clean former costs 50 EC.

Any proposals on your side how we could proceed with these new findings?

      • 50 ECs is still a small cost to transfer the most desireable property of a tech while dodging the effects of the PDL.

A 1^-2-1 clean would cost the same as that former, 5 mineral rows. Any non-scout unit will cost at least that much when made drop-clean.

        • I will check this possibility shortly for conformation. My initial tests showed, that the upgrade price is still the same as in the case of formers.

          There is also other possibility.
Could you recheck, that in 2187 Spartans still do not have clean ability? If they do, we might just exchange Bio-engineering. If they do not, we may proceed with exchange of a unit with clean ability.

          Thank you,
          IT Mart
Will try to check ina couple of hours about the tech (and answer right away).

          • The Angels took a beating from the Spartans - they lost half their cities!

            Cities lost:
Enigma Machine (13 pop, VW and Cyborg Factory) - confirmed obliterated
            Kahlua Probing (7 pop)
            Heaven's Gate (5 pop)
            Hercules Station (7 pop)
            Geomatrix (4 pop)
            Mart Pact (2 pop)
            Timberland (1 pop)

The Spartans only went from 145 votes to 148 votes, so they probably obliterated all of the bases they took.

            Surviving cities:
Snowflake's Haven (9 pop) looks untouched, but also appears to be near some obliterated cities.
Kodycryptor (12 pop) seems to be in the same position as Snowflake's Haven.
            Rock-Paper-Scissors (10 pop) seems fine.
            Googlieplex (5 pop) is exposed.
Gemka's Loft (6 pop) looks like it lost some crawlers.
Fungal Heights (2 pop) is probably untouched.
Delirium Camp (2 pop) is probably untouched.

Strangely, it seems that despite obliterating cities, the Spartans have not suffered sanctions. Was this in the rules?

                • Angels offered Cyberethics and PSA pre-accepted. Accepted. Since we were researching Cyberethics, we get to pick a new tech. The choices are:
                  Doc: Init
                  Prog Psych
                  Adv Subatomic Theory
                  Optical Computers
                  Orbital Spaceflight
                  Nonlinear Mathematics
                  MMI
                  Adaptive Doctrine

Since the Angels already have MMI, Orbital Spaceflight is the clear winner.

                    To Gaian Union

DataAngel think-tanks would like to know when the transmission of Orbital Spaceflight can be arranged. We would also like to know if you intend to send Fusion to us.

For context, I think the original deal was Orbital Spaceflight to them for Fusion to us. The Angels are indeed researching Fusion, but are crippled, and will take a long time to finish.

For context, what's your perspective on your position? From here, you look like you're badly damaged, though in a position to recover, albeit slowly.

We envision a gradual rebuilding in relative quiet. To defeat the spartans will require cooperation between the gaians, morgans, and data angels and we are still in a position to contribute. We also point out the transmission tothe gaians of the techs required to obtain OS and Fusion in short order. Also as the spartan's already have OS there is no fear of them capturing it with the PDL.

Giving them OS I think will bea good move:
                        1.Because it cant hurt us.
2.Because Spartans will have more respect to DA.
                        3.Because it will improve relations.
                        4...add what I forget here..

                        • I turned over control of a SAM jet in Virgin Soil.

                          1. you can deploy a unit thusly more effectivly yourself.
2.can upgrade it to something more modern.
3.unit dropped a morale level. however still +++ in a creche city

question is, do you have the EC to make it profitable to do this?its also a fission unit still. i cant probe you for a 2 turns atleast for OrgSup

switching all production to fusion now. am relativly secure on our front using ZOC defenses

post in your forum or cc to CT please

                          • Well, I'd send this to whoever sent the PM, but I can't remember who to contact for DA diplomacy anymore. I'd like to probe them for MMI in the next few turns, and hopefully switch research to Adv Spaceflight, if it's available.
