Heh I think those are ripped gfx. What I am talking about is this fantasy mod. It will have lots of races right? Lots of units....... You showed me a topic with a dragon and a trebuchet heh.......Otherwise I think that rip off unit animations is the best way to make a fantasy mod.

what i was saying was do one human civ for each culture type, one Asian civ, one European civ, etc.
the constructs would be the creation of some legendary mad scientist/mage, as would be the undead races. it's not necasarily a lost race, just a hermit that would rather spend time with his clockwork things.I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.

Sharks yes for an Ocean race, but lasers? not the right genre

Heh I dont think that you guys can make real good units gfx. Its damn hard. However..........maybe you can rip out graphics from fantasy strategy games and use those?.
I had (as I mentioned before) asked my very talented 3D graphics programmer brother to take up the task, and this thread gives him a list of 'basic troops to start working on...
But being the perfectionist that he is, He's making Blizzard Warcraft III Movie quality units that just happen to be the units that we've asked for in this thread. I've attempted to get him to tone down the level of complexity as the troop size seems to be somewhere abou 90x120 pixels or so (This is purely a guess),
So Long story short I'm learning 3D Max myself, which turns out to be a BREEZE, it actually is, The only hard part is getting the skins right, but after seeing how simple the skins(textures/polyface whatever you wanna call them) are in the Play The World Graphics. I'll make the basic units for each troop and My bro does the UU (how sweet will it be having your UU unit looking like something Sooo painfully powerful)

and Ok Hmmm well that could be a mid game to late game benefit, The Real start to my game is Mid Caveman... Early Bronze Age.... So Mad Mages with the technology for constructs, isn't going to work until A: Mages exist, B: Metal Exists and C: Basic engineering exists.
But dont worry, The constructs WILL exist eventually what would a fantasy world be without them.
Oh I'm unlikely to post my In game Notes at this stage: A, I doubt I have even half of them unpacked, and B, this forum is for who likes which races and which races are a waste of time....
p.s. Those killer butterflies are looking mighty interesting.......LOL
Heres some of the stuff 3D Max is doing these days, might have these as a Unit for the Oceana Race:EFR RPG GAME Designer, E.F.R. Forums The Coyn: Fantasy Mod for Civ3:Conquests

Seriously though, I read the Knights of the Dinner Table comic about an table top battle game of an entire race of sprites, fairies, pixies, butterfly mounted troops, etc where they were all warmongering, this prompted some ideas for some units, But being small creatures as they are, they couldnt be anything more than reconisance troops and they'd barely be 6-10 pixels across, I was thinking a druidic tech, "commune with nature" That would allow production of a small creature to 'fly' up to 5-6 sq away from a town/wizards tower(airfield) to view enemy activities and terrains. They would be non affiliated troops, and would be cheap enough to 'throw away' (like fighter jets, fly them as far as they can until they 'crash to the ground'/'return to whence they came)
This relys on some basic concepts like unable to swap maps until Late game. Unable to swap techs until very late game.
So The Butterfly was one of the considerations for this (also its a very simple 3D unit that even I can produce)EFR RPG GAME Designer, E.F.R. Forums The Coyn: Fantasy Mod for Civ3:Conquests

Since Civfanatics allows 20 Poll choices I've posted a Poll there for the current list of choices, Thanks to Everyone who has contributed to the list thus far, I'd have never have thought up half the ideas, not at least until it was too late.EFR RPG GAME Designer, E.F.R. did the americans exist from the dawn of time? met a babylonian recently? hell... met anyone from the Iroquois tribes in the last five years? (i have, but that's because of where i'm from **evil grin**) my point being is that the civ need not be totally feasable to exist.I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.
