Hey that's a good idea about the extremely high unit support; In my current experimental game, I am in the late ancient era, so it will be a little while before I reach Industrialization (the tech I currently have as allowing Social Democracy).

One thing I have discovered, is that it appears that if you make a govt "too strong" as the AI sees it, then all of the AI's like to switch to that govt, no matter their preferences. I had a "Theocracy" govt with 4/6/10 unit support and communal corr. in the Middle Ages, and all the AI's went to it. I had to nerf it a little.

Have you found this to be true? Or was it just some random quirk with all of them going to Theocracy?

I have heard that the AI chooses its government solely upon the Unit Support rating and cost stuff... but i dont know...

Hey... oh the subject of that Theocracy you built... what equalized that unit support? Its of my opinion that when a government is made it should have a upside and a downside... like the socialist one we are making here has a good economy but no military...

        Military-minded governments

I've noticed a distressing number of AIs going fascist late in the game. I kid you not, one time I had a huge world with something like 3/4 of the civs fascist. Sickening.

Like you say, it's probably for the military. The AIs all seem to be a bit on the warmongerish side, militaristic or otherwise.

I agree; hopefully, Civ4 will be a game that better allows for ALL playstyles--if you want to go largely peacefully, you should be able to do that.

These end-game world wars are too predicatable. And you're right, I have noticed them go all Fascist if the massive end-game world war breaks out. (and it usually does).

Probably so. Or at least it seems like it. I'd like the preferred govt thing to actually mean something...

What equalized it was the tile trade penalty (the same one that Despotism has). I have not tested it out though. I'm concentrating on Social D at the moment. Maybe Theocracy is next. My current Social D test game is still in the late ancient (I have not had much time to play). I could have done accel production to get to Industrialization faster but I don't think that's good for testing.
