      I have voted Demigod.
I have won Deity once. Not that I tried oftenly.

The bad start on Deity bugs me, it's pherhaps challenging, but not really enjoyable.

From an average start I can beat Deity about 9/10 times. From an average start on Sid I lose about 9/10.

I voted Regent. I have never been able to beat CIV or SMAC on the highest level.

Remind me never to play a PBEM against you or the AU mod Panel again.

I play emperor, but I don't like playing beyond the middle ages, since I no longer have a hole to climb out of. That is the fun bit of this game for me.

In civ2 I always easily beated deity.
I think I can beat any human, no matter what level.
The thing is just that on sid/deity the AI get such a huge start that it's not fun anymore.

The biggest part of the game I'm busy catching up, and when I catched up I walk over them easily since I became insanely big.
There's hardly a moment when the game is equal to me on deity / sid.

But I'll keep on trying deity, it must be possible to catch up with the AI early in the game. I just have to find out how

I'll put it this way. I have gotten past Chieftan, but I won't say how far. (I'm glad the vote isn't connected with the post.) Considering the challenges I face now, I do not even think about playing the upper levels, let alone winning them. In fact, if I hadn't read turn by turn descriptions in various diferent threads, I wouldn't believe all you people are really winning those upper levels.

And as for playing MP with you people that do win up there in the stratosphere, no way. I may be silly, but I'm not stupid. Well, maybe the "stupid" part is up to debate if you ask my cats, but I would sure feel stupid watching you folks clobber me like a game of Whack-a-Mole.

I used to think I was a pretty darn good game player until I met Civ3 and you folk. If life keeps handing me lessons in humility, I may finally figure it out some day.

Sure, but first I need to setup my network in such a way that I can play online. I'm behind a router with 3 pc's

I haven’t lost a Monarch game since the first few games I moved up (and didn’t so much lose those as not hang around to see them out after fatal mistakes were costing me big time). At this point I win near every game at nearly all victories at will. Yet, I still manage to run into big problems when sticking my toe in the Emperor level pool. Go figure.

I'm too kinda stuck 'tween Monarch and Emperor. Win easily on Monarch most of the time, get squashed early on on Emperor.

I voted Emporer, but whatever level im playing at corruption is always set to 40%. Not sure how much difference this makes, as the default corruption level seems so high that I only ever played a couple of games with it.

There is very little direct correllation to how well a player does in SP vs MP. You can (and sometimes have to to win at the higher levels) do things against the AI that just would never work against a competent human.
