It sounds like you are doing pretty good. To get to spaceships you have to get a well developed core. The diplomacy is one that canbe done by either getting on polite or gracious terms with a number of civs and staying there. You could alternately do a fast one. This could be getting the UN and bribing enough civs to vote for you. This can be done a bunch of ways. You could have 1 or 2 civs that you are protecting and have been gifting them stuff during the last age. You could get some MPP's with a few civs and go to war with the other large civ and there by get soem votes.
I am not one to use the UN, I tend to build it and not call for a vote.

In PTW I got to the point that I turned off all but Domination and Conquest. In C3C I havew been using all of them for now.
So spaceship is the most common and then getting a city to 20K.
I have a couple of domination wins as well.
I would have probably at least 6 wonders as I would likely get all the modern ones and many of the industrial ones in addition to some form the earlier ages.

If I get a game where it is two large contients, I will likely go to the end of time as I am to lazy to invade a KAI that has a big empire. It is so painful to deal with scores of units in combat and shipping them. Once in awhile I will do it. Drop 64 units and then rush an airport to drop units in.
In the last one like that I just nuked their major cities.

Rt-clk on the city (not from w/in City) and "Abandon City" will be on the list.
