                    Sorry - it was slow, but we are making some progress - if I can get (2) to extract his nose from his current 'Quite Late Landing Game' we might even post a log...

                      • The gits have their own smiley -- I’m impressed (thinks for a second -- I’ll have to see about earning an old and slow one some day).

                        Notice that some of the succession games are getting to the late stages. -- I’m thinking that we’ll need to start a new one soon. With summer arriving soon -- do we want a lazy days of summer theme or the heat of the battle? (Or both?) Looking to start something either June 1st or the equinox.
                        Those with lower expectations face fewer disappointments

                        • I was just thinking that the succession games are going very slowly now, so a new game should be simple, but challenging. A no settlers/engineers challenge might be good (start with 2, as usual, but none can be built - bribes/nomads allowed, of course.). Put us on a big map and it could be a struggle to keep up with the AI...

                          • The Log

                            1822 = Much creation of celebration; Several armour changed to freight; lots of confusion over what we think we are doing; slider stays at 6.3.1 for the moment

                            1824 = Radio -> Machine Tools; Sewer System in Matterhorn; Bank in Steamboat Willy; 15M pop;

                            1826 = 17M pop; Did a lot of not much... well - I guess we planned the invasion of Greece, but that's small beer...

                            1828 = The Shield Siege of Teotihuacan continues ... (this has involved the building of three new cities in embarrassing positions...);

                            Edit At some stage we discovered Machine Tools I think in 1828
                            ------------------------------------

                            The following played by SG(2) ...
                            1828 Gems to Magic Kingdom 69 (unblocking);

                            1830 Gems to Thunder Mountain 228; Oil to Magic Kingdom 128; Coal to Donald Duck 120

                            1832 Miniaturisation; Teotihuacan falls 44 captured along with Pyramids + Guerilla Warfare;

                            1834 Population 19m; Gems to Chunder Mountain 162; Hides to Magic Kingdom 69 (unblocking); Tintin City bribed for 241 - 103 in plunder; Senate enforces Cease-Fire with Greeks.

                            1836 Mass Production > Computers; Oil to Magic Kingdom 854;

                            Notes for the next player:
                            1) A taskforce is assembling in China Ferry bound for China. A barracks will be ready next turn to heal the troops.
                            2) The Romans make occasional landings along the northern shores of our home continent and have also just turned up near Kiplingville - continent 42.
                            3) We are at war with everyone but the Greeks (Cease-fire)
                            4) Population nearly 20m - Treasury 1182 gold.

                              Yeah this also happened a few years ago. The remedy then was a Lightning Game with no restrictions on play ... just be QUICK!. If someone didn't post within 24 hours the next person on the list took over.

                              If there is enough interest we will start one on Friday.

                              STYOM - The no settler/engneer game sounds good.

                                Rain is predicted for the weekend here... so after I play in the Sweetness 'n Light game (following Jrabbit), I'll start the no settler game. I may need to try a few maps, just so that the nomad strategy and the OCC strategy won't be the obvious avenues of approach
