  • Great idea, do that!
    I'm a Chieftain now!
More Pacific WW II theatre units I made last night, to mark the occasion. From left to right:
    1. US Navy bombers/ torpedo planes:
    a) Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber (p. 1940/44) also used by France and New Zealand.
    b) Grumman TBF Avenger torpedo plane (p. 1942/45) also used by the British navy and others.
    c) Curtiss SB2C Helldiver dive bomber (p. 1942/45)
(I 've climbed on a Helldivers wing, when it was a public exhibit of the Athens Military Museum in the early 80's, and I was a tiny toddler) If I ever make that Greek civil war 1944-49 scenario...
    2. Japanese fighters and bombers
    a) Mitsubishi A5M "Claude", Zero's predecessor (37/41)
    b) Aichi D3A "Val", painted green (more realistic)(36/44)
    c) Nakajima B6N Tenzan "Jill" torpedo plane (43/44?)- looks like the B5N too (a day that will live in infamy...).
    d) Nakajima C6N Saium "Myrt" naval Recon plane, related to the previous plane, much faster though.
    e) Mitsubishi Ki 21 "Sally" Japan's main bomber during the first half of the war (production 1937/44)
    Production dates in the brackets.
    I know,
    I'm doing a Ki-45 Toryu now

    • 2nd try to post this. So I'll be brief

a)Kawasaki Ki 45 Toryu "Nick" -long range fighter.
      b)Kawasaki Ki 61 Hien "Tony" Bf-109's engine.
c)Kawasaki Ki 100 the same with a Mitsubishi engine.

      (I think I'm turning Japanese... )

      Italians and Czechs coming up.

      • Two more planes:
        a) The Czechoslovakian Avia B135 fighter (it took me something like 5 minutes, you can see why). Never fought, really...
        b) The Japanese Mitsubishi G4M "Betty" long range bomber. Something like 6.000 km, due to its huge fuel-tanks. Just one shot and boom! Fireworks

Sure, name what you have in mind and I'll do it.

          Meanwhile, even more planes:
          a) A Japanese Mitsubishi G3M "Nell", the bomber that back in 12/10/1941 sunk HMS "Repulse" and the "Prince of Wales" maiming the Royal navy's power in the Indian ocean. The perfect choice for a pre-1942 Jap. bomber IMHO.
b)The PZL P.37 Los ("Moose", as Heresson told me ) Poland's best (medium)bomber during its fight against the nazi horde.
c)PBY Catalina, the famous and immortal airboat, since it flies to this day. Join the Black Cats squadron and raid behind enemy lines!
d)The Nakajima Ki 43 Hayabusa "Oscar", the Japanese army's workhorse for most of the war.(The superior zero was navy's plane).
e)Another airboat, the Japanese Kawanishi H8K "Emily", arguably the war's best protected, equipped and long ranged airboat. Try 7100 km! It patrolled the shores of India for a while.
f)Finally, the British Short S.25 Sunderland, the "flying hedgehog". Epic battles with Ju 88 long range fighters and panic striken U-boats on the horizon!

How to use an airboat in Civ2? Give it helicopter (no need for airfields), sub(to attack just ships), see2, see subs flags and let it rule the waves!

Steff, I am afraid the bmp is distorted. Here's your autoblinda anyway. A bit too dark perhaps?

              • Steff: Don't mention it. I need some italian armor myself, for a possible scenario. I 'll see what I can do.

                Meanwhile, more planes:
                a) A German Do 24 seaplane
                b) A Fairey Fulmar (A late war painjob to turn it into a Firefly coming up ). A naval fighter conversion of the Battle, modern but inferior to the Sea Gladiator biplane(!).
                c)A Japanese tankette.
                d) and e) P39 Aircobra, American tactical fighter/ Attack plane.More than half (5000 give or take) were sent to the USSR. April 1941+,it served in the Pacific and N.Africa for USAF, RAF and the Free French. I think that USAF's only WWII all-black squadron flew this plane. A great favourite because of the 37mm gun that fired through the nose-cone. Perfect vs bombers and tanks.
f)A Japanese light tank. Is that ok, Fairline?

                • Thanks.
I 'll probably give it a try, during the weekend.

As to the Italians, most of their production was of the M11/39- 13/40- 14/41- 15/42 line that look alike, more or less. Nemo's unit fits them all. When the war started they had mostly tankettes, like this CV33. Their successor was this L60/41 light tank. As the war went on, they abandoned tanks (which they were so bad at making) for tank-hunters like the semovente (that stood a chance, at least against English tanks). There is a semovente a few pages back, I think.

                            • Here are all of the German vehicles that I could find made in the Nemo style. I took most of them and I mirrored them so that you could have them facing both directions.

If I missed any units, or have the initials wrong on any of them, please let me know.
