    No, we really need them all. We need their tech, which is pretty ahead in the tech tree. So we need them alive so that they can trade techs between each others. Otherwise the game will be lame, because we will be blocked from more scientifical advances.

      Downloaded and played most of my 20 turns. Will post results and game tomorrow night if I can.

      Lots of activity to write down - including another war with the Cherisy.

      Does anyone know if Ambassadors can go into orbit ? If so, we should sent one up there ASAP, as I accidently unleashed 8 barbarian intelliraptors near one of the SSTO pads, and I think we could bribe them fairly cheaply and replace some of our aging repellers.

        Hum... Yes, I think they can go to orbit. And that you mentioned is a pretty good tactic! You have to be pretty fast though, because you can't buy them all with just one ambassador in one turn, and the rest of the barbarians will attack you. Only buy those you can bring down to Funestis on the same turn!

          Major Sharpe shakes the icicles out of his hair, climbs out of the cryogenic cell and wonders if the ship has reached Chiron yet. Then realizes oops, wrong game , that is the Alpha Centauri game and this is Civ 2:Test of Time!

          Anyway, he reassumes command of the Star Officers for another 200 years.

          PE 1210 - Ixion attacks Pennemude and is killed. Verne City builds colonist
          PE 1220 - Obergopolis founded
          PE 1230 - Tsiolkofsy founded
          PE 1240 - Barb Ophion attacks Meteor city and is killed. Completed our first SSTO Pad near Comet Town. Time to send units to explore the orbital platforms! Receive word that the Valians are starting to build the Morphon Attractor (Leo's Workshop), but we are more than halfway finished it - Ecoreactive incident near Verne city (more ophions)
          PE 1260 - Meteor city builds colonist. Build another SSTO pad to orbit west of Second Outpost. Start sending Interceptors up to explore parts of orbit 5 squares at a time and then back to bases on Funestis.
          PE 1270 - Leyland founded
          PE 1280 - Bonestell founded
          PE 1290 - Build our first shuttle - receive the Plasma Chamber (Bolter unit, Fulmine Ring) tech for free because of it - Make peace with Cherisy, after they give 250 bp in tribute
          PE 1300 - Barb Ophion kiled after attacking Tsiolkosky. Barb leader killed for 100 bp. Got Biorobotics tech (Milquetoast wonder) from a hut in orbit. As a result, our barracks are sold for 80 bp
          PE 1310 - Planetsville builds colonist. Discover the Confederation tech. Start revolution. Start researching Applied Hedonics (we really need happiness buildings!)
          PE 1330 - Formed Confederation government (now 12/turn income and tech every 8 turns, but have to have 20% luxuries to keep the population from revolting. Founded Venustown as our first orbital city. (near Valerian point on Funestis)
          PE 1340 - Tsiolkosky builds colonist - 100 bp from hut - Founded Mercuria east of Meteor City
          PE 1380 - Power ratings from historian : Us, Engineers, Vallian, Cherisy from 1 to 4 and Iihibati is 6th
          Cherisy sneak attack our Transceratops pile (fortunately I put a Raptor among them so the attack was crushed ) so we are now at war with Cherisy - Founded Mars City in orbit (equivalent to west of Moonburg)
          PE 1390 - Unleashed 8 Barb Intelliraptors in orbit. They kill a colonist (all this happens near the 3rd SSTO pad in orbit close to Planetsville) - Moonburg builds colonist, more bp from hut, Founded Jupiterville (south of von Braunberg on Funestis)
          PE 1400 - Destroyed more than a dozen Cherisy units - lost 2 interceptors, but Cherisy city of Seven is empty and down to population of 1. Saturnalia founded

          Sharpe feels tired and again abdicates and goes back into the cryogenic cell but not before setting the cyro control to wake up his successor....

          Status situation: We are winning the war with the Cherisy in terms of units lost, but they have several groups of units in forcefields that would make more attacks against them difficult. Haven't made much progress toward their cities.
          I have explored some of the orbital platforms and we have lots of land above us - the barb raptors are still near our northern SSTO pad in orbit - they are about 4-6 turns from either of our orbital cities.
          I thought this post was long enough so I didn't mention the buildings that I built, but they were mostly a lot of mutantis museums (I had to buy a few when I switching to confed government), a few justice networks and workshops. Unhappiness is beginning to become a bit of a problem.

                  1410: Researched Applied Hedonics. Going for Plasma Engines, so we can have the Environeer (Engineer) ASAP.
                  1420: Senate forces me to accept a cease-fire with the Cleresy, but they give 250 bp for peace, which I accept!
                  1430: Rushbuy Raptor at Jupiterville, because some Ixion barbarians uprised.
                  1430: Same as above on Saturnalia.
                  1440: Sneak attack by the Iihibatihi (orange). No damage done at Jupiterville.
                  1450: The Engineers (pink) start Morphon Attractor.
                  1470: Got barbarian leader! Extra 100 bp!
                  1480: Researched Plasma Engines. Going for Frictionless Surfaces (railroad).
                  Orion Station builds Morphon Attractor. The others abandon their wonders.
                  1490: Founded Uranopolis (below Rocket Center).
                  1505: Sneak attack by the Cleresy. Isn't that a pity... Let's see how they can manage our swarm of Interceptors and Anullus in their cities range!
                  1510: Engineers (pink) begin to work on Organ Bank (Women's Suffrage); Tivallani (yellow)
                  1520: Researched Frictionless Surfaces. Going for Mechanized Armor, so we can go afterwards for Basic Automation and get that Environeer (Engineer).
                  1525: Ah man, sneak attack by the Engineer! They attacked at Tsiolkofsky. Lost a regular Intelliraptor, so I rush-built City shields to protect from further attacks.
                  1550: Emperor Zealot steps down from the chair of power to allow a succession in the Empire! I leave the empire with war in 2 fronts: 1 in the north with the Clerisy, and one in the south with the Engineers. The Cleresy are almost finished,a nd we only need to build another Service pad nearer their cities so we can attack with air units. Meanwhile, in the south, the Engineers only have been attacking with Transceratops one-by-one, not giving much trouble to our Interceptor defending our city in the South serving as a bottleneck.

                          Whenever you don't remember whose turn is it, check out Mercator's list in the beginning of page 2. Or do you really think that I always remember whose turn is it?

                              Oh one more thing:

                              We already have frictionless surfaces (railroads), but I still didn't make any. So you (Eco) should build some.
                              About the science, the goal is Basic Automation, so we can have instant upgrade from colonists to environeers.
