    • Britain Incensed by Turkish Embargo

In closing their ports to our ships, the turkish have made a mockery of the spirit of cooperation which had formed, tentitively, between these two nations. After Italy helped in the supression of France new links were formed between the two 'opposing' alliances and the new era of cooperation was formed. Now Turkey threatens this by closing their ports to the opposing alliance. The fact that this tarrif they are imposing is, in Britains opinion, illegal does not matter with this point. What does matter is that Turkey is closing their ports thus forcing Britain, Germany and Russia too to use their railways and thus pay the tariff.

If Turkey continues to keep their ports closed then Britain will have no choice but to enforce their will and break these illegal closures, with force if necessary. The British Navy stands ready to enforce Britains will. Unless Turkey opens their ports to Britain, Britain will be forced to sink the Turkish Navy and Bombard their cities. This is the will of britain. By all means keep the Tariffs in place but Britain will only pay them im they have to use the railways, and Britain will not be forced to use the railways when we have a huge Merchant Navy with nothing else to do.

We expect an affirmative Reply before the British Turn, otherwise The Med Fleet will take action as it sees fit.

      • Ioannes Reluctant

Radio address by President Ioannes Schroeder of the CEU:

"My fellow Europeans, the age of Free Trade is now at an end. While we recognize the rights of the Mediterranean Alliance, the Democratic League is sadened by the loss of free trade.

"To the Turkey, while we see your right to charge use for the railway, blocking your ports, forcing use of the railway shall not be tollerated.

"Also, while we accept the charges, I demand that, as favor for the establishment of Jugoslavia, that Russia and the CEU nations be given free trade access to Jugoslavia for the course of one year.

"In appendum, for each road bypass that must be traveled due to railroad inaccessibility, I shall pay 50% less of the tariff. Thus two road bypasses will be 75% less, three bypasses will be 86.5% off (or what ever the correct percentage is)

"In turn, a similar terrif will be set up for use of the CEU railway system for all who impose tarrifs on the CEU. They shall be respective to those imposed on the CEU. All nations who give us free access will be given free access."

        • I'm also assuming that the terrif does not apply to freight already on the road.

Also, I'm sending a freight to Istanbul from Neurenburg (size 15). However, not only did I have to use a road bypass, but, unless I'm taking the wrong route, there is not even a road bypass to get to Istanbul

(note, I accidently made a wrong turn on the rail, but that won't be deducted as a road bypass)

          • Actually IMHO these extremely small tarrifs arent anything to give such a big fuz about, you easily make more than 1000 gold with a freight from a city size 25.
Furthermore Brittains proposterous claims that such tarrifs are ilegal are laughable, since when is it ilegal for a railroad company to charge for use of thier own rails?
Furthermore, even if it would be ilegal in brittain, that would not matter, as railroads in turkey goes under turkish laws

While Italy does not agree with the blocking of turkish ports she does recognice that it is perfectly within turkeys rights to do so, its turkish ports, she has signed no agreement to keep them open, hence she can keep them open or closed as she pleases.

            • I'm going to open the ports back up. But britain dont think you can bully the Republic of Turkey, you will be turned back if u invade. If i close my ports don't trade with my country. It is turkish law, it is my country not a little colony of britain.

                • Britain Relieved

This month audible sighs of relief were heard from 10 Downing Street, contrary to popular belief caused by the French occupation, War is not good for business. A spokesman for The Prime Minister commented that the fat that the Turkish saw sense in unblocking their ports meant that peace was safe for at least another year.

The Royal Navy was more relieved than the Prime Minister, and the ships that were training their guns on their turkish counterparts stood down with plenty of time to go. A few destroyers of the fleet got lost and are being recollected near cyprus, it should be noted that the navy buildup in this region is in no way tied to the recent events.

The reason the Prime Minister spoke through a spokesperson was that he was visiting a Naval Yard in London. The visit was very hush hush but it is believed that the Prime Minister was visiting a new naval vessel being built at that specific yard. The HMS Empire is believed to be a new type of ship, heretofor never seen on the waves before. Naval leaks have called it a "Dreadnought"

                  • Spain Gains More Access to the Outside World

In responce to the anti-trade policies of the Mediterenean League Nations, Spanish engineers have constructed a railroad linking the Spanish city of Bilbao with the British city of Bayonne.

                    Merchants Stuck in Northern Italy

Spanish merchants attempting to transport a load of chemicals to Rome have continued to be frustrated by the poor state of Italian railroads. Speaking to reporters, the CEO of the traders, Fernando Tritti, said "How is it that a 'rich' country like Italy can have an even worse rail network then a 'poor' country like Spain? Have the Mediterenean Railway executives been stealing the funds or something?".
Mr Tritti also expressed confusion over the tarrifs he and his fellow merchants will have to pay should they ever arive in Rome.

                    • CEU Engineering Corp Outraged!
                      Demands Exponential Raise in Funds!

Upon hearing the news of Turkey's 19 corps of engineers, the CEUEC looked over its own numbers and found itself to have the same number of engineers. Outraged, the president Greg Leumberjak, both praised the President Tzu on his accomplishment, and riled President Ioannes on his inability to stay on top of the engineering world. He said, 'the CEU nations are the richest countries in the world, and yet the Ottomans still whip our combined asses in this manner? This is outrageous. Ioannes, increase engineer spending NOW! Polution must be cleaned up, rails finished, farmland to plow and mines to construct. We need more money and we need it now!'
