  • Techs don´t play a major role, because it´s a war scenario and you don´t should have much time for researching anything. There are so many other things to do.
You can only reseach techs for additional support, for example the Anaconda plan. Union player can research it and setting up a naval blockade of all southern ports. I´ve some more ideas in mind, so the Darwins Voyage could be a good buildable wonder. I don´t know if it has effect when it comes via event.

Interesting thought about the governments. I agree that democratic governments are not so good for a war scenario. I´m thinking about Monarchy or Communism. I don´t like Fundamentalism because of the effects with the temples, churches and colosseums.

Using important peoples as wonders was one of my first thoughts when thinking about wonders. I denied it but maybe I should think about it again.

I´m tinkering with the idea of using Baloon Corps for the Union. They should get the Helicopter-flag and having a two space visibility. The Baloon itself can´t attack but ground units can it shot down. Also it will be only available via events.

    • I would say Monarchy for the Confederacy - inefficient central government.

      Communism for the Union.

As for a balloon corps: Its an interesting thought - as a scout unit, I presume?

Should be fun, even if not too useful, just as a touch of this-is-cool.

People as wonders allows for tying wonders to units (not that it can't be done anyway, but it helps) - so if the "Robert E. Lee" unit is destroyed, you can have "Lee the Invincible" expire (even if the unit is recreated).

It would also be appropriate to give the Confederacy some moderately important wonder (not sure what effect) called "Control of the Mississippi" in Vicksburg.

      • These are also my thoughts, giving the Union Communism and the Confederacy Monarchy. An interesting new wonder, the Mississippi control.

Does anyone know, how I can make terrain impassable?

        • If it's for ToT there's a flag un rules.txt that makes certain terrains impassable. But then you make EVERY square of that terrain impassable. If it's for MGE you must use impassable units. Several scenarios uses it, IE Favoured Flights scenarios.

          • Where can I find this flag (it´s for TOT) in the rules.txt?
It´s because I would like to include railroads like Techumseh did in his Red October scenario. I know that I can give the units a "override impassable" flag but I don´t know how I make terrains impassable. What is with those units ( in my case all railroad units) when I don´t give them the "override impassable" flag?

            • You can make terrain impassable in the rules file in @terrain section :

              @TERRAIN
              Desert, 1,2, 0,1,0, yes, 1, 5, 5, yes, 1, 5, 3, Pln, yes, ; Drt

              yes for impassable terrain

                • I´m now finished the final city placements. My next turn will be the units stats for both sides. I´m using two folders (Union and Rebels) in my main Civilwar scenario folder. This allows me to give both sides unique units. For example, if you play with the Union, you will get Balloon Corps (they are explorer units and have the helicopter flag). Because the AI doesn´t really know how they should be used, you won´t see them when playing with the Rebels. I´ve some more unique units, for both sides.

                  • I take it the brown lines are the railroads?

Getting unit movement rates right will be essential for this scenario. I take it you saw AGRICOLA's notes on the Bonaparte II ToT thread.

Unique units for both sides makes a lot of sense, especially for special concept units that the AI will not understand the use for. I enjoyed the AWI scenario and I'm really looking forward to playing this!

                    • Are you representing famous/important generals as units (either as in a "General" unit or a specific "General Grant" or "General Lee")?

Yes, the brown lines will be railroads. The map is really big, so the units will be have a high movement rate. I´m trying to use AGRICOLAS playtest results from my AWI scenario and of course from the Bonaparte scenario.

That´s why I´m using two folders in my scenario.

Yes, there are famous generals in the scenario which will be available via events, depending on how succesfully you are.
