Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
There is a small typo in the advance "Assault Vehicle" (=Too).
And I have a question about the flag "Anti-Armour"
(=pikeman-flag). So it´s long, long time ago, when I did civ 2 mods and scenarios, but if I remember well, the pikeman-flag only worked properly with 1 HP units. But in this scenario there are a lot of tanks, that have the pikeman-flag and they all have more than one hitpoint (p.e. Churchill, Sherman, and so on). Has something changed here in the last years?
When I made my first advances against Russia and captured Brest-Litowsk, this was rewarded by a nice pop-up-text. It´s a pity, that these features can´t be done with Civ 3.
The units look great on the map. The flickering green cursor is not the best colour on a (mostly) green map.
I played my first two rounds with the Germans, I conquered several cities from the Soviets. My Finnish friends liberated (with my great help) Viipuri, my Italian friends Tobruk.
Unfortunately I lost three Stukas because of not enough fuel.
I will make a detailed report in the next few days.
The scenario looks very good, I didn´t noticed anything unusual.
Sorry for the delay, I had many things to do the last days.
But today I found the time for a playtest.
I played with the Germans on the difficult level easy.
The German attacks on Soviet cities are heavy if you use your units carefully and wise. I attempt to attack cities first with Stukas and Artillery and captured them with my Tanks. Until my Foot Troops arrived the occupied cities, I defended them with my motorized units. Damaged units rested in my cities.
So I had allways main units which are completly healed.
For my opinion, the Partisans have a too high hitpoint value.
I would decrease it a little bit. I lost three Tanks by attacking the Partisans.
The combats are good, I don´t think that they are overpowerd. Especially at the beginning of Operation "Barbarossa" the Germans actually conquered great parts of Western Russia. Until with the strong winter 41/42 the Soviets got the chance of liberating the occupied areas.
I´m looking forward to the winter war in your scenario.
During the playtest, I concentrated my attacks and movements on the Eastern Front. Only in North Africa I fought against the British army.
Here is my report for the seven turns:
Jun 1941
I conquered Liepja, Vilnius, Grodno, Brest-Litovsk, L´vov, Chernovtsy. My finnish friends liberated Viipuri.
Jul 1941
I conquered Rovno, Daugavpils, Tobruk, Riga. The British attempts to liberate Tobruk but they didn´t have a
chance.
Aug 1941
Kishnev, Gomel, Kiev Tallinn and Minsk under Axis rules.
Soviets tried unsuccessfully attacks for liberating their cities.
Sep 1941
Narva and Chernigev under Axis rules. I discovered "Panzerartillerie"
Oct 1941
The glory Rumanian Army conquered Odessa. Unfortunately they lost it again immediatly.
Nov 1941
I continued the way to Moscow and conquered Pskov, Novgorod, Smolensk, Kharkov. On this time, the German Artillery began with the siege of Leningrad. El-Alamein where destroyed by German Troops...
Dec 1941
Allied Troops attempts a little invasion near Amsterdam , German Troops marched into Petrozavodsk and german scientists researched "Jagdbomber"...
I will make a game on the recommended difficult level, I´m curious how many cities I will conquer.
I played a new game as the Soviets on difficult General.
I thought it´s time to fight against those damn fascists.
What I noticed during my game with the Red Army.
The AI (Axis) decided to attack my cities with every unit, unfortunately it doesn´t used them carefully. That´s the way why the Axis lost many units at the beginning of the invasion. Especially my red fortifications were a real hard thing for the Axis. During the seven turns I lost the following cities on the Germans and their Allies:
Brest-Litovsk, Kishinev (Romanian), Vilnius, L´vov and Odessa (I liberated the city, unfortunately the Romanians conquered it back )
The Germans lost about 15 Panzer III, 6 Panzer IV, 29 Grenadiers, 15 Bf-109 Fighters, 10 Stukas and 6 Schützen. Only five cities were under their control.
Ok, my losts are much higher (79 Red Armies, 32 T-26, more then 10 Motor Troops, etc...) but the Germans didn´t conquer great areas of Russia. For my it wasn´t a really great problem to stop the enemies on my borders.
Some Sturmoviks and Katyushas helps me to destroy parts of the German Army.
Maybe I would let only two units in the cities of Western Russia. What I like is, that the German units are better then the Russians. So the AI could conquer a great area of Russia until of the beginning of the winter. During the winter, I would make the Soviets more powerfull, there is the chance of break down the invasion. It could be a challange for both player, either if Soviets or Axis.
Conquer Russia in the summer and defend your cities during the winter with the Axis or attack the enemy especially in the winter when you play with the Russians.
Hmmm - It is always a challenge to make the Soviet AND Axis side a challenge to play...!
Perhaps I should reduce the hitpoints and firepower of the Soviets, so they are quite weak for the summer,
and then tougher when the winter comes! That change will be easy to carry out with the multifile system...
Time to work on a new unit balance for the new playtest!
PS
I will send you the winter (Dec-1914 to Mar-1942) files soon if you want!
Sors salutis/ et virtutis/ michi nunc contraria,/ est affectus/ et defectus/ semper in angaria./
Hac in hora/ sine mora/ corde pulsem tangite;/ quod per sortem/ sternit fortem,/ mecum omnes plangite!
I´ve got your winter-files and continued the Russian campaign.
The first turn in Jan 42 the Germans unfortunately captured three cities, which I liberated after a few turns.
I played until Sep 42 (with the winter graphics), and preparing now to make some counterattacks on my german occupied cities. Maybe in Winter 1944, if my army is great enough, I´m be able to storm against the Third Reich.
