  • Great to hear.

    When the files are ready, I will start a new game with the Soviets. I´m curious how many turns I need for until my red army marched into this damn fascists capital...

    • I am hoping everything will be ready soon!

      Been busy with the new events! Got everything covered up to Summer 1943!

      The main thing is making sure the right city capture events are in place at the right time.

      On one hand, I don't want a particular events filled up with tons of events that are not bound to happen in that timescale.
      But on the other hand, I don't want to deprive especially successful players of event rewards if they take a city early...

      What I dilemma! So, my answer is to start putting more and more major events into place as of the Summer 1942 era.

      After all, no-one is going to capture Stalingrad or London in Winter 1941, right?

      (well, I hope not!)

        • My Red Army is prepared for the Great Patriotic War against the fascists invaders. They will do their best for defending Stalingrad and Moscow until Summer 1942.

          • Sounds good. I'll take a shot at Jerry and see well the cobblestones of London hold up under the pounding of hobnailed boots.

            BTW, what happens after Summer 1942? The Soviets quit??

            • Currently, Civ2Units only has the files that allow play up to Summer 1942.

              But soon, everyone will be able to play up till Winter 1946!

              • Well, here is the playtest goodies! Enjoy!

                DICTATOR7Scen.zip = The scenario files!
                Dict7Sound1.zip = Sounds part 1
                Dict7Sound2.zip = Sounds part 2
                Dict7Sound3.zip = Sounds part 3
                Dict7Tunes1.zip = Music part 1
                Dict7Tunes2.zip = Music part 2
                D7-Multi-Files1.zip = Multifile content part 1
                D7-Multi-Files2.zip = Multifile content part 2

                Installation and multi-file handling directions:

                1) Make a Dictator7 folder in your main ToT directory.

                2) Download the zips and Unzip everything to the Dictator7 folder.

                3) You should end up with a series of folders called '01-Summer1941' and '02-Winter1941', and so on...
                This is the multifile content, from which you will cut and paste new content when the events request.
                Be careful not to mess these up! If you accidently copy/delete something - Just unzip the files again.

                4) When the events ask you to install the new files. Save your game!

                5) Then go to the correct folder (as instructed by events) and copy the contents.

                6) Go back to the main Dictator7 folder and paste/overwrite the old files .

                7) Then drag your savegame (sav file) onto the Delevent program icon...

                8) Go back to ToT and reload your saved game...

                9) Now you are ready to fight!

                I have found this is a nice and efficient way to update the files ingame, until I get a batch file going...
                But to be honest, I find this multi-file method to be quickest. Without all the programming headaches.

                This method will do for playtesting anyway!

                If anyone is testing, let me know how things go...All bugs and slugs should be reported here!

                Good luck and cheers!

                    • The problem with the events files is that they want to generate "American GIs" when they should be generating "US Supplies."

                      Been playing as the Western Allies, am currently somewhere in the summer of 1942, I think. The Axis Powers seem to not be neutral toward the Neutrals; in fact, Italy took over Switzerland!

                      I've taken Le Havre, Amsterdam, and Brest, but haven't been able to make much progress inland. I've besieged Paris some, but it still hasn't fallen (probably because I need more units that can succesfully attack the Motorized Infantry and Anti-Aircraft Gun garrisons of the cities...

                        I've updated the SL wiki zip files, the correct events should be there now...!

                        Try DLing them again, dude. If the trouble persists, let me know!

                          • Gotten up to June of 1943 as the Allies.

                            Taken most of France (though a few coastal cities hold out), gobbled up most of the Italian peninsula (though Mussolini's forces remain strong in Greece and the Balkans) and I've even made progress into Germany itself.

                            Also, why can't many of the coastal cities build ships? Because I've got a large army in North Africa that's just waiting to be shipped to Europe. But I can't get to rush-build all the transports I need

                            The Axis don't seem to respect the Netural's neutrality - Benito's making inroads into Spain (I've liberated Switzerland and rebuilt Geneva) and Sweden's been partitioned between the Nazis and Finland (revenge for Sweden's crimes and/or domination during the 17th century, perhaps? )

                            On another note, was it just me, or were there two invasions of North Africa? One where I took most of the Vichy-held coast, and then another after the place was secure.

                            Oh well. I do notice that in World War II European Theater scenarios, I tend to have more British units than American. Probably because the British Isles are closer to the field of battle than America is.

                            The Germans didn't as much progress against Russia as they did historically, which disappoints me. After all, the deeper the Germans penetrate into Russia, the farther east the eventual Iron Curtain will be!

                            And there's a map of my game so far:

                              I know that's a joke but in those days Finland was more Swedish than Scania, where I live. So I wouldn't call it domination. Us people in Scania were more dominated, believe me.

                              Anyways, events works fine now, so I better try to get some time to try this one out.

                                Actually, the neutral cities are all meant to have an invulnerable 'garrison' unit to assure their safety.
                                The AI can attack these garrison units, but they will certainly regret doing so!!!

                                The fact is that Swiss cities have Motor infantry (from an earlier map set-up) so I will fix this next update!
