American helicopter sighted near Soviet border! Is this the beggining of the 3rd world war?

A soviet bomber Tuv-95 Bear reached Seoul to help our communist brothers!

As Moscow considered that Sweden has just a minor importance to the communist expansion, we gave back that useless air base near Stockholm.

Our KGB secret (?!) agent has found no-importance informations from the other side of the Iron Curtain, so he came back.

Due to tremendous bureaucracy problems (CivDip...) the USSR could not send militar equipment to the Pro-east nations, but direct militar help will be present in all important conflicts.

Is this http://spanish.apolyton.net/civ2/diplo/main.html the page where we can download CivDip? The civdip i downloaded there does no have giving units support. I think this is version 2. Where i can download version 3?

Academia, if I atack that helicopter near my border, will this be the begginig of ww3?

        I have some doubts.

In a local war, if I bring a carrier near to the war zone, and send attacks to the units in the war zone, can my enemy atack the carrier, that is outside the war zone? Similar to this, can my enemy atack a transport near to the war zone (but still outside)?

There is a limit of cities for a local war?
Can we define a medium-size region war, like, by example, north africa? Would something like this corrupt the meaning of the game?

first of all, sorry rodrigo! i saw your messages... i was watching a football game, so i forgot about the PC

and now, let´s answer your questions...

            1) "American helicopter sighted near Soviet border! Is this the beggining of the 3rd world war?"
"Academia, if I atack that helicopter near my border, will this be the begginig of ww3?"

As eurisko did with your spy in germany, you should first ask USA (in this case me!) to remove it from the area. Its like an ultimatum... if i dont comply with your request, feel free do shoot it down. But make your warning first. all in all, its just a helicopter... you havent spotted a huge invasion fleet heading to russia.

            2) "A soviet bomber Tuv-95 Bear reached Seoul to help our communist brothers!"

mmm... i´d like to clarify that. are you actually going to get military involved in that conflict?
in that case, if i see soviet units in the area, i´ll have green light to destroy them.
            please, i need your answer.

            3) regarding the civdip, follow eivind´s link and download that one.

            4) "In a local war, if I bring a carrier near to the war zone, and send attacks to the units in the war zone, can my enemy atack the carrier, that is outside the war zone? Similar to this, can my enemy atack a transport near to the war zone (but still outside)?"

you can use the carriers to send units to the war zone, but your enemy cant attack your carrier.
you can ONLY attack anything inside the war zone.

an example: we have the korean war situation. you have airbases in russia. you can send fighters from those airbases to attack seoul for instance. i can shoot your fighters down, but i cant attack your airbase in russian soil. ok?

            5) "There is a limit of cities for a local war?
Can we define a medium-size region war, like, by example, north africa? Would something like this corrupt the meaning of the game?"

i see no problem. i think that we can always discuss that. it´s up to the players.
            you should do two things:
            1) begin the limited war
            2) propose the conditions

No more doubts for this time!
Yes, i'm involved in the korean war, fell free to shot my bomber.
I will leave your helicopter in peace.
Do you want to know anything more before playing your turn?

                    no problem.

in any case, we´ll have to wait for eurisko´s return

I'll have no time to play until the 10th or 11th of February.
so, i´m planning to play my turn today or tomorrow. no rush

                    • SECOND KOREAN WAR STARTED!
The american people is ready to give its utmost to defeat the communist pigs one more time.
Lyndon Johnson gave his troops green light to hunt down and slay Kim Il-sung as soon as possible.

                      *1 soviet Tu-95 + 1 transport + 1 frigate destroyed (please disband the units in square 230,68)
                      *1 pro-east submarine + 1 zsu-23 + 1 howitzer destroyed

                      *1 submarine + 1 paratrooper lost

                      PROPOSED KOREAN WAR ZONE

                      any complaints?

                      VIETNAM WAR
                      *3 vietcong destroyed

                      *1 destroyer lost

                      CONGO WAR
                      *1 t-62 pro-east destroyed

China: we spotted chinese supported guerrillas south of Leopoldville. They are INSIDE the zone of war.
You have ONE TURN to remove then from the area.

                      • Rodrigo:
Regarding the soviet vessels i destroyed in square 230,68, i´m willing to talk about it.
patine and me havent established a zone war, so you may feel that my attack was unfair.
i´ve just proposed the zone war in my last post and not before.

what do you guys (patine and rodrigo) think?

                        • The destruction of the Soviet vessel is a little trigger-happy, and extends the naval war zone unnessacarily, I think. I'll wait to hear from RP.

                          • If i`ve thought about the war zone before, for sure my ships would be away from it, but. No problem for this time. I think the next time we should talk a little bit about the war zone and the turn it starts before attacking each other, maybe our diplomacy is a little bit weird.

                              ok... what about this...
use a transport and get your land units in square 230,68 instead of disbanding them. ok?

                              • How is large civ's representing many to be handled? If India wanted war with Pakistan (which it doesn't, I'm just making a point!), could the SEATO aid with units from distant SEATO cities, or only with units from Pakistan. And during peace time, could SEATO produce units in Australia, for instance, and send them to Pakistan. Or can only Pakistan produced units stay and operate from Pakistan? I find this very confusing as you may understand. Dealing with nations seperately makes more sense as I see it. I realise SEATO is a defense pact, but given the history of India-Pakistan, I don't see why other nations should be involved. The same would apply to the pro civ's. How are they to be handled?
