Straybow - so, if this were a vote, you would what ? .... abstain?

The deal is - We can change a rule if nobody objects (or by a vote of 4-1). I'd prefer to give ISeeAll a chance to speak up... maybe waiting a few days for him would be reasonable. I guess my other main concern is whether anyone gets a noticeable advantage from the change....

For example: I doubt anyone is ready to RB a farmer yet. But just in case, I suggest that we do not allow that for another 5 turns or so (assuming we shrink the food box).

Also, how would we DO this ? I guess everybody adjusts their own rules.txt. Straybow and I make a SeedsGame2 folder, and insert the new rules.txt and copies of the old scen files into it... is that the idea ?

I have had some internet problems, but hope to play and post later tonight (I am writing this from work).

That's an abstention. I'm not for it, but I won't block it.

OK. I am uneasy about whether it is 100% fair to change this after we've started, but I don't plan to block it either. Wouldn't mind if ISeeAll did, though...

Hittites: Research completed on rock scratching. Hut = alphabet.

        Babylon: Nothing to report.

@Stray: Did you get my email about Game#1?

so, then. must i play now???. or should i wait for IseeAll?

I guess my other main concern is whether anyone gets a noticeable advantage from the change....
no-one specially. just that every civ will grow faster and we can have a faster game. but if the scenario was designed to be funnier having slow-growths than the standard growth, i'd like to listen you experienced guys.
i don't see very funny waiting long time until we can do something else. just my opinion.

Also, how would we DO this ? I guess everybody adjusts their own rules.txt. Straybow and I make a SeedsGame2 folder, and insert the new rules.txt and copies of the old scen files into it... is that the idea ?
yep you can keep two copies, one for each game.

btw: what happened with RobRoy at last? he was very enthusistic with this Pbem as well.

I think you can just play.

At this stage of the game it makes no difference.

I think we'd want to change it between Minoan and Hittite turns if it is decided to do so.

I don't think we can wait for ISeeAll without knowing when he'll be back. Dario - do you mind playing Egypt a few more turns (or Eurisko could do it) ? You can just Ctrl-N if you want, but IMO this phase of the game is as important as any other, and I'd prefer that Egypt doesn't fall too far behind.

About the food... well, I have enjoyed Game#1 quite a lot, probably more than any other PBEM. So I am a little reluctant to change the scenario. But if you guys are finding it slow, and ISeeAll doesn't object soon, I will say OK. I assume nobody has a city with more than about 15-16 sheaves yet ? If not, I think we can wait a little more.

                    • Nobody has 15-16 sheaves yet, but those who have 10 would have experienced an increase in city size already.

Also I played the Egyptian turn, if it is ok with you.

Huh? Some confusion over language, maybe ?

Currently there are 20 rows in the food box with 2 sheaves each (growth after 40 sheaves). The proposal is to reduce to 10 rows, so a city can grow after 20 sheaves. We've only played about 7 turns, so I guess no city will be affected by a rules.txt change, for another 3 turns. But if somebody has bananas/irrigation/monarchy/etc (maybe gaining 3 sheaves per turn) this might be wrong. Seems unlikely, but I wanted to check.

                          • My bad, I assumed that size 1 cities grew after 2 columns of 5 sheaves when it is actually 10 sheaves per column.

                            Anyway, the Minoans are up.
