Assyria:

Will the Assyrian heartland share the same fate as Kato Zakro? At the far side of the mountain ranges to the east, barbarian hordes consisting of at least one regiment of infantry weilding modern bronze weaponry has been spotted.

Fear and terror spread among the population of Calah, the imperium's second city. Sargon himself had to travel to the region to ease people's fears and bring an end to unrests which broke out.

In a speech he gave, he reassured the citizens of Calah that the glorious Assyrian Self Defense Forces (ASDF) were very well capable of holding the city against the barbarian onslaught.

As a matter of fact, only months before the barbarians were sighted, Project SHIELD (System for Heartland and Imperium Entrenchment against Light Dangers) was completed successfully, resulting in some 70 000 men currently having been trained extensively in the usage of our new defensive wonder weapon, the spear, with some 20 000 estimated to complete their training within 10 years from now.

In a first attempt at combined arms, our defensive forces will fortify on the Tigris' banks and hold out until our retaliatory force consisting of chariots can join the battle and drive the barbarian hordes back.

In other news, a hut yielded yet another chariot.

As White, I have not yet gotten any messages about barb hordes. I did spot one barb swordsman wandering in the wilderness, far from Hittite towns.
