  • I'll start on the readme Sunday.

    @Case
    Caught me redhanded. Hopefully my research for El Aurens was a bit more diligent.

    @Tech
    Thanks! By any chance do you have space for me to post the beta version at your site? If not, what's a good alternative?

    @MU Fan
    Well, work is taking a higher toll, but there's also a new , who btw is much more tolerant about Civ than the ex. My kid's soccer escapades are keeping me busier, too. Despite being coached by a duo of Limeys and a Dubliner, he's learning a lot about the game.

    @Agri
    I suspect you'll be in Damascus by June 1916. Others may take a bit longer.

      Ah, a woman who appreciates the intricacies of the Sykes-Picot aggreement; a rare find!

      Commiserations to your Limey-trained kid. He will be destined to show some promise in cup qualification games only to be beaten on penalties by a German side in the quarter-finals. Can't you find a Brazilian coach, or, god-forbid, a German one?

        Just because he's being trained by a Pom doesn't mean that he'll play as badly as a Pom

          • Dave, the Australian War Memorial has a very interesting blog on the development of a Lawrence of Arabia exhibition which is scheduled to go on display at the AWM here in Canberra this time next year at: http://blog.awm.gov.au/lawrence/

            I was a bit anoyed when I found out that the Lawrence exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London had closed one week before I got there, so this should be good.

              Before that happens, pigs will grow faster than light engines and begin the orbital bombardement of Pluto.

              • Thanks for the link, Case. It promises to be a good exhibition. You are expected to provide a full report!

                Are the W.I. and S.A. such pushovers that the Champions Trophy is of no consequence this side of Pluto?

                Btw, one of the Pom coaches is actually a Dubliner who cheers for that goaliecidal team Chelsea.

                  That's a different matter enitrely. Everyone knows the ICC doesn't count.

                  (tries to cover up fact that England finished bottom of group)

                  Which reminds me, good luck to the Aussies against WI later today.

                    I'm not going to tempt fate We'll miss Jones and Vaughan, so technically you'll be beating a below-par pommie side....

                      Yes. Nothing compares to the importance of winning the ashes back.

                      • Some questions

                        What are the restrictions of the RTF format over the normal DOC format in Word? I'll check myself, but I thought someone might know of restrictions relevant to writing Readme's.

                        Just how offensive is the three letter abbreviation for Prisoner of her Majesty? I have a few instances of it in the scen.

                        Then I won't say congrats.

                        What factors led choosing Giles over Panesar? It's difficult to get info on strategy over here.

                        Case, how many scens have you designed for TOAW III?

                          Besides .doc's taking longer to load in bulky, resource-hogging M$ Office?

                          Where did the nice days of ASCII go

                          For practical terms, RTF is an easier format to read, and will probably be relatively smaller.

                          I don't know how much fancy editing you want in your readme, but maybe an HTML file will be better if you want lots of it.

                          • It's a little fancy in that it contains figures and tables. I lack the patience and ready knowledge to generate an HTM file easily. Can Word do that easily in a format readable by 3rd party browsers? My last effort with other MS Office products generated stuff that couldn't be read in Opera or Mozilla. Opting for RTF seems easiest at the moment.

                              Just make sure you use it in the right context, as in 'you pommie bastard'

                              Giles is a much better batsman, although Monty can get the ball to turn more. And then there's Panesar's fielding, er, 'skills'.

                              Dave, don't tell me you're the first American to appreciate cricket

                              • There are a few in Canada, mostly originally from India or the West Indies. They play in secret, once hockey season is over.
