I have made it into an scn file after that update. All other events are working except for the RECEIVEDTECHNOLOGY.

here was the scn file that I was using, also included are most current versions of various .txt files.
EDIT:
Wow, you guys really know the code... I cut a lot of the preexisting annotation from rules.txt and now the receivedtechnology events work perfectly. Don't download the attached file.
Now working on some more playtesting and documentation, the beta ought be ready within a week.Attached FilesLast edited by :) Smiley; September 30, 2005, 01:23.Visit First Cultural Industries

BETA release!
Beta is ready! Get it here!
http://apolyton.net/upload/view.php?file=8873_calif.rar
Be sure to read the Readme file before installing.
Almost everything is completed except for Describe.txt and Advice.txt, but these don't affect gameplay. Everything else ought to be working, the main issue now is difficulty and balance.

Since no-one else seems to have found the time to comment on the beta, I guess I may as well help out by throwing a few suggestions your way.
First off, the scenario is TOO hard, IMHO. I'm not the greatest Civ player (I'd be interested to hear from other people to see if I'm making a valid point here or just parading my ineptness in front of the the entire community for all to see), but there doesn't seem to be any conceivable way for the Californians to survive the ever-strengthening forces of Jebusland. The Tanks are simply too powerful, and the forces avaliable to California too weak, for victory to be anything but a distant pipe-dream.
I've tried blockading the bridges with my special units (noticing that they have a 100% defence modifier), but I simply don't have enough such units to be able to do so. Poor old Ashby, Cloyne and Rambo just can't cover all the multiple attack routes by themselves, and those Hippies are next to useless; I may as well have cardboard cutouts defending my cities.
I'm am, as I mentioned, open to the suggestion that I'm a crap Civ2 player. Is there something I'm missing that's preventing me from getting anywhere with what looks to be a well-crafted, imaginative and original scenario?
As for bugs, the only one I was able to find whilst playing was that Ashby Lvl 2 is a buildable unit. I guess it's not meant to be.
Hopefully, Smiley, you'll be able to find the time to respond to my comments. I'd hate for this scenario to fall by the wayside when it's quite clear that you've invested considerable time and effort in it."Paul Hanson, you should give Gibraltar back to the Spanish" - Paiktis, dramatically over-estimating my influence in diplomatic circles.
Eyewerks - you know you want to visit. No really, you do. Go on, click me.

I have the feeling you are right, as if the scenario was challenging fro me it is porbably too hard for others.
Rules.txt has been revised to strengthen player buildable units by 50%. Tanks have been toned down slightly. Hippies will still suck against them, but Activists are now strong enough to stand a chance
and are available early.
Ashby Lvl 2 and other similar units are buildable because of upgrading. Just consider it a hourse rule not to build them.Attached FilesVisit First Cultural Industries
