  • Say Harry, I have afew questions for you about the story behind AE2 that I hope you wouldn't mind answering for a curious person like myself.

What does Nazi Germany plan to do with America exactly upon a hypothetical victory? Is their aim to set up a Vichy France style regime somewhere on the continent so they don't have to occupy the entire nation or is all out occupation the ultimate goal? I imagine all out occupation would be they're aim for the sake of gameplay, but I'm just curious what your story's warplanning characters in Berlin specifically had in mind for this invasion of Amerika.

Another question would be what would America look like under Rommel's German rule? Would the nation be broken up and its borders redrawn like the territories in Eastern Europe? Would she be subject to the wave of German settlers imposing themselves on American soil?

Now I imagine you might intend for these questions to be answered only in the course of regular gameplay, if thats the case then worry not and I will wait for the release to find. In the mean time, let me know if there's anything i can do to help out in this development .

    • The primary goal of the invasion would be, of course, to knock out any opposition that the US would put up against Germany.

But... and you'll find out soon enough, there is a bigger story to all this. Much bigger...

Hehe. Anyways, if you'd like to help out, I need some icons.

Here's a list of the improvements (cost figures are not finalized of course, I haven't touched those):

      • Well those are some damn fine improvments/wonders Harry. I especially love the "Wartime Baseball" and "Scrap Reclamation" improvments as well as the "Brutal Police Tactics" and the "Niagara Power Authority" wonders.

            • Well Harry the "Wartime Baseball Games" certainly do add a dash of Americana flavor to the game. Maybe the icon for it could be a screenshot from "A League of they're Own". I'm more than a little curious though how "Patton's Breakthrough" will factor into the game, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see for ourselves. I can't even imagine whats going to be filled into the slot you labled as "Secret".

All and all this is going to be one damn fine series of scenario's when all is said and done. How many more do you plan on doing after "Price of Freedom"? I remember you mentioning once that you had the concept for the third Atomic Eagle down, but the name escapes me for the moment.

              • The Wonders may change a bit as I go along, but that's probably the final order of things.

AEIII will be called "For God and Country" and will feature the British as the human civ. It's going to be a small theatre map of Europe which will utilize some "logistical" benefits that wil be made evident in AEII. You can probably make a guess based on the "Secret" Improvement listed above and some of my recent statements on Techs. Hint, hint.

Right now I'm grabbing some graphics off the web for the pop up screens and backgrounds and hashing out the units. I've also puposefully overloaded the Allied list right now so I can trim it down later.

                State Police,
                US Army Inf,

                  • Uh, thanks Erika, but I'm looking for post war infantry. I could probably mod these though.

                    • I personally just imagined the US Infantry would look very similar to the US infantry of the Second World War in ways of appearance. Maybe closley resembling the US Infantry from the Korean War more than the Second World War even, though I don't know of any existing unit graphics from that war to use as a reference.

In any case I'm sure you've already taken care of the infantry and most if not all the other units at this point. I seriously can't wait to take a gander again at that rocketpack wielding SS tropper in the gas mask. Man does he look evil .

                      • Indeed, the development of uniforms and such may have taken a different course in this WW2 'timeline.'

change the helmets, although i would think that if the us was invaded they would put some of the old helmets to use, probably in reserve divisions,

                          • Well in any case I'm sure there are more than enough modern WW2 units out there Harry that you could ever need for this project. I know for a fact there are more WW2 units in circulation than in any other Civ II genre. Still, by this point it sounds like you'd have the US regular infantry units settled on.

I am however looking forward to seeing this Mexican Guerilla unit that you had mentioned earlier. As well as any number of other American guerilla units that might pop up..... not to mention this Austin fella.

                              • Well my understanding is that Japan was defeated without the help of the Atomic bomb, meaning that Japan itself was invaded and occupied in a bloody end to an already bloody war. I'm not sure if Harry has let it be known how much of Japan survived this house to house fighting, but the end result as far as I know is that Japan is no longer any threat to the United States or her allies.
