@rmsharpe :
Indeed, commerce/factories will replace oil in this one.
Also, London and Paris will be cities of major importance, hence the German effort to nab them!
@boco:
Funnily, after fairline's comments, the planes have been cut back some...
In addition to the colonial troops and MGs, I have the Italians using the Lancia car, and the Austrians added...
Many big events will happen in Europe, but I want to let the player have the world to exploit!
@our_man:
Perhaps a few irregulars might pop around 1916...
@Arthedain:
Super-powered barbs in the partisan slot is about the best option I can think of, fighting them will be a real hassle, not boring!
I can't really work out another way to simulate the communist rise,
apart from a large happiness wonder being made obsolete.
But I might combine that with the barbs anyway!

Well the units are very impressive, although a bit repetitive (still, of the highest standard!) and i feel a bit out of my league now but anyway, i will dl the scen and have fun playing it although i must confess that i would like to see some ww1 scen focusing in the balcans, the endless central powers vs entente (spelling?) is a bit boring for me. However if i was english it wouldnt be Btw have you read Lord Dunsany's stories about ww1? they were being published at the time of the great war, and some are very nice

I really like the idea of a colonial aspect to a WW1 scenario. Have you played John Ellis' Colonies IV Curt? In that scenario the colonies have very low production and growth; trying to build anything beyond the basic improvements in North America for a good part of the game is a real chore. Consequently, the arrival of a few cannons from Europe can really shift the balance of power! Seeing something similar in a WW1 scenario, where the transport of a single machine gun to Africa could have huge consequences, would be really enjoyable.
While the colonies of the European powers were not that important with regard to their industrial capacity, they were hugely important for raw materials. By using civcity to change the trade goods, you could make colonial cities valuable to capture for just this reason.
Hopefully the scenario will involve shipping weapons to Africa and the other colonies and the transport of goods from these colonies to Europe. I noticed the presence of a freight in the units.gif. Maybe you already had something like this in mind?STDs are like pokemon... you gotta catch them ALL!!!

My favorite way to trigger the Red Uprising is to make it triggered by the events.txt. The way Jim Panse did in his WW1 scenario. In his game if the Russian Empire looses Smolensk to the Germans the revolution is triggered (Barbarian Bolshevik units). What I liked about this was that it reflected how the revolution COULD have been avoided if Russia had had better sucsess in the Great War, and hadn't lost so badly in almost every major battle they fought in.
It will give the Russian player incentive to not loose so terribly, since the player will know what will happen to them if they loose.
P.S. What are the civ's going to be Curt?

Well, it shouldbe two event really- If the Russians are doing very badly, it triggers one set of Soviet troops- if these troops are able to take a city (St Petersburg) it then sets off a country wide revolution..If you don't like reality, change it! me

Our_man those are some excellent ideas. Cities will change supply/demand commodities over time, but using trade as the incentive to fight for colonies. The Allies could have potential to rack up a lot of money via colonial freights arriving in the mother country. That would give a good historical reason to launch U-Boats. I'd have a few isolated colonial cities be the only ones able to make special units like ANZAC's , Indian Infantry, Senegalese Tirrailleurs, and Schutztruppen. These would be a cut above generic (and lousy) Askaris and Gendarmes that could be built anywhere. Following our_man's logic, all but lowsy units should be very expensive. If European cities are rich in shields, they can still build the units easily. In contrast, if colonial cities are shield-poor, then they would require money to build anything but lousy units. That coupled with low hold settings on ships should keep the colonies less dense with units, allowing for more of a free-ranging war there. It could also stress the colonial powers. Should I bring in another powerful ANZAC unit from Sydney to Marseilles or a freight? His idea's got a lot of potential.

Name-change or city edit suggestions appreciated!
EDIT: Whoops! I just noticed, rmshape
Then I should come with some suggestions myself
* I'm sure you've already noticed that several cities are in wrong hands
* Damascus is no coastal city, so you could maybe have Beirut instead?
* Shiraz to 168.88
* You could knock out some cities in western China to make place for Africa.
* Hong Kong yo 209,97 (remove the island left behind)
* Was Jakarta called Batavia back then?
* Belfast renamed to Dublin and moved to 123,55
* Bucaresti renamed to Bucuresti
* Oslo to 137,47
* Copenhagen renames København and placed 137,53
* Warschau to Warszawa
* Iraklion to Iráklion
* Reikjavik renamed to Reykjavik
* Magadan to Magedan
* Chelyabinsk to Tsjeljabinsk
* Kiev to Kijev
* Krasnodar to Krasjnodar
* Yekaterinburg to Jekaterinburg
* Fredrikshab to Fredrikshavn or in English: Fredrik's Harbour
* I agree with the others on that 'hole' from Turkey to Syria
* Algiers to Alger
* New City: Madang to the Germans 232,130 in New Guinea
Some cities have native names, others have English names. It should be consistant imo.
