As for our engineers, they work with a peaceful purpose. We have noticed that you cast your greedy eyes towards the Sioux city close to their workplace. We propose the Mongols to do the same amount of work (but to the north/north east of your city) to improve the land there.

What say you, servant of tyranny?

We have withdrawn not only our ambassadors in your lands, but also we have withdrawn all of our citizens near Roman lands in preparation for war as you have failed to withdraw your Engineers from the land south of Kerman.

Should you again fail to withdrawn them immediately we will have no choice but to remove them forcebly from South Kerman (though we do not wish war with the Romans as our two empires have enjoyed years of peaceful relations).

As for the area north of Kerman, we fully intend to cultivate the land to the North, but our eyes are not on the Roman city of Kabulantium, but on the Mongol city of Kabul.

As for our female ambassadors, they sought a passageway to your allies, the Babylonians, in the hope that we could lean more of these Southern peoples. However your repeated expelling of our ambassadors has made necessary our repeated attempts.

/me leader of the Mongolians who are all hoping that the leader of the Romans seeks peace between our people and will not sacrifice Engineers in order to provoke a war which will serve neither of us .

We will have to survey the situation when our turn comes before deciding on this matter.

We cannot understand, however, how working on land that is rightfully ours can be seen as an act of aggression...

We also note that, although there are no direct acts of violence between our peoples, we belong to different alliances. Furthermore, our allies are fighting each other openly and our "pact" of non-aggression is increasingly strained... Since we cannot risk a stab in the back our engineers are undertaking the above mentioned work for defensive purposes only...

Has the Roman King noticed that his turn comes right after mine and played yet?

(my email to you had the gamefile attached)

              Hi!

Yup, I've got it. Work overload, but I'll play it soon (hm, that has a familiar ring to it, has it not? ).

LOL, good to hear you haven't forgotten us. I just get worried when I was the player before and the turn has not been played as I wonder if the turn was received by the person I sent it to.

I had everything set up to play them (I'm involved in two PBEMs) yesterday. Except that I had left the game CD at work... I'll put it in my bag right after this post!

Instead, I started a game against the AI. Large world with lots of water, rendering the map very beautiful (the classic green-blue contrast)...

Three AIs, deity, raging hordes... It's about 180 AD, I have HG, Colossus (both in the capitol), MPE and the Lighthouse. Preparing to change to republic. Fun game (I played until about one in the morning)!

After some Five months since my last turn, the 660 AD save has now been emailed to the leader of the Romans (Carolus).

I am hopeful of getting the next turn before Christmas, but not sure if I am being overly optomistic or not

                      Here is the Bab save.

For anyone watching this thread, the game save file was sent to Carolus some time ago.

I can only assume he received it........has it moved forward to La Fayette / Dave V yet?

                          Hi!

I'm watching this thread... Sorry to report that I haven't forwarded it yet...

I'm in the process of moving to a new place, but I will try to play my turn before Christmas...

Okay, thanks for the update, I knew that La Fayette was away for a while, I thought it might be with him.

Now I know. Busy time of year and this game moves slowly at the best of times. No hurry, Christmas sounds good to me, I was just wondering where it was at.

Just struck me that I have to install some kind of software that facilitates diplomatic negotiations...

So it may take a while longer...
