it shouldn't matter that i have edited some of the main bts xml files should it? I mean we'll be using the xml on your machine won't we?

No, it shouldn't matter. I checked and I am patched, so I change the way the port is forwarded now, to rule out that problem. I had it forwarding a range of ports (for multiple games), and I'd never done that before. So it is now just forwarding 2058, which I know should work.

No it doesn't. Yes that's right. I guess we'll have to wait and see if anyone else can connect. Then we'll know if the problem is you or me.

Also, could you edit your posts that have the address in it and remove it? I just don't want any robot's scanning the thread and trying to hack me or something. Thanks.

Krazy can get into the game, but apparantely nobody else can. Have you tried Sabre? There might still be issues between the US and European versions that the 3.02 patch didn't fix.

no success connecting... well, the connection works but the version is false... aebbeka has the old US version
you must apply the sync patch for the international version!

The synch patch is the 3.02 patch, and it's had that from the start.

I'm going to completely reinstall Civ and BtS on that machine.

just tried myself: still the same problem, just keeps trying to connect to host indefinitely

my internet is provided by my accommodation via a big network, so im wondering whether they have some kind of firewall rule that prevents me from doing this

i actually have the US version now and ran the 3.02 patch after that... darn... i'll try something else tomorrow, but even if i can get it to work, lumpy still has problems

yeah, it tried connecting using the IP address, as aebekka suggested in a recent email, but still the same old problem.

If we can't get this sorted out then I'll just have to give up on multiplayer for the time being. I don't really want to PBEM because I think it'll just be too much hassle for with already having to switch to windows.
