ah, the taj mahal? hmm... i don't have marble so it could take a while. besides, i don't want any more great artists (had one from music), they are pretty useless...
i have indeed been trading with the vikings. bought a total of 4 techs (calendar, iron working, riding and something else) for the cost of about 6 techs. now i'm ahead by only 2 optional techs. but why do you think we are way ahead? both ragnar and i have few cottages, not many lakes, not many luxury resources (some silk and 1 incense). research could be a lot faster on your continents...

oh, and yes, switzerland still has an army (conscription) with a large active reserve. they cut down a lot but unfortunatly not my person
