even if i am better (which is not proven until we do a best-of-nine or so to prevent the starting area count too much) in the early game you might have layn down groundwork for future excellence.

i am missing:
- forges
- libraries
- cottages

btw, it'll be interesting soon on my continent. one of ragnar's cities is defended by a spearman and an archer with just 20% culture bonus. and barbarians have appeared with two axemen

if the first axeman gets lucky against the spearman (combat II + shock) the barbs may weaken ragnar just enough for me to get the upper hand (he has just founded his 4th city last turn)

How do you guys do that... Warding off barb attacks, constructing wonders AND preparing an invasion on another civ.

no, barbarians were attacking, not me... but ragnar just slaughtered one axeman with his spearman (probably juge XP gain) and his unpromoted archer was barely dented against the attack of the other

next turn my points will rise again because of yet another city growth. but slavery is active now so points will stay low. i guess that's why you're staying behind me... whipping

Btw, I always found it odd that whipping didn't brought a decrease in points, since there is a population loss...

uhm, it does decrease points, i'm certain about that!
in one PBEM i purposely used excessive whipping and built little culture so the others wouldn't notice my massive technology dominance they completely underestimated me

exactly like that, yeah

in EC4 your tech savviness came at a price: virtually no army at all! had i known you were so weak i would not have needed g_storrow to distract dauphin. i gifted him net about 6 techs in total!

damn, why are you over 100 points behind? i have not had any major achievements lately. no new city, no wonder and no culture expansion...

my capital is indeed doing well though lacking regular infrastructure. i wanted oracle for an early tech on MY island and i took stonehenge so ragnar wouldn't get it (he's already culture-challenging me).
ah yes... and each wonder gives 2 great prophet points, that explains the shrine --> and check out the 38% rate that hinduism has in this world :muahahaha:
