There is a big problem. Turn after turn goes by and nothing ever seems to get done on the diplo front. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find both the Inca and the Zulu teaming up against us. I mean, we ignore them, we seem unable to even send the most basic message in a timely fashion, and our military is so weak the barbs are running rough shod over us. We need a defender in every city (not chariots as they suck at defending though the two chariots we are building can go chase down barbs), we need a metal city right now, and we need to not make a single other move until someone does something about our diplomacy situation.
It would be nice to see some graphs too so we can figure out how we compare to each of the other civs we're talking too.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

That would be a good start.
I mean this has been going on for dozens of turns now.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

OK well give it ago yourself and then we'll maybe suggest some changes. You should by now have picked up on the overall thrust to the Inca and maybe copy our first message to the Inca, with appropriate changes, to the Zulu.
We can designate you special diplomatic envoy to ....On the ISDG 2012 team at the heart of CiviLIZation

Me? I can if someone wants me to though it may be better for me to assist a turn player that way there is no miscommunication, I.E. "I thought you weren't going to move that unit there but you did". If people want then I'll take up the job or if they want someone else (who maybe more diplomatic ) then they just have to say so.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

For the record: The incans are slow diplomats. If we respond too fast to their letters we will surely annoy them.
Always try to mirror your opponent a bit. If you need 2 weeks to compose a letter, and then have finally sent it out, then it's annoying to receive an answer in 1 day. It just means that 'the ball' lies in your court again.
This is a slow game, don't be hasty. There's nothing bad about letting things go for a couple of days for reflection.
To the Incans:

Dear friends,
We have read your friendly letter with pleasure.
It seems like both our great civilizations have a common love for technological advancement and a common hate for troubles.
Let us do like you proposed and share knowledge about tech paths so that we can mutually benefit from eachother.
We accept your peace proposal and it's initial endurance.
Lately we have run into the Zulu civilization and haven't been able yet to exchange communications with them.
May we ask you to share your experiences with these Zulus from far away? Some of our people fear that these backwards people may be preparing an invasion army with the sole purpose of destruction out of envy of both our far more advanced civilizations. We will keep you posted.
Kind regards,

To the Zulu:
Purpose: let them know that they are a warmonger nation and that we're prepared for it, and all in a friendly tone to not anger them.

Hail mighty warriors of the Zulu,
We have been eagerly waiting for your arrival!
Word has spread about your strength and and courage and reached our cities.
Some of our generals have longed to meat yours for long, to speak about the arts of war, and learn from each other, because there is no civilization that has knowledge about the fruits of strength and power, like yours and ours
May we ask you about the purpose of your visit and your intentions?
We great you and admire you and hope for healthy relations that will benefit the both of us.

Not we but they are the slow diplomats.
