t159 we must try to steal nationalism by this turn, because the next is our last chance to revolt to nationalism and if the stealings fail we must research it ourselves. I will make it so that with all the overflows we will be able to get nationalism in one turn of research. But for the rest of the plan i will assume that stealing will be succesfull. so t159-replaceable parts

t160->replaceable parts/rifling, we switch to nationalism and start drafting some janissaries

t161 golden age ended still we should be able to get rifling in about 5 turns

t167-168 rifling is ready we can start drafting rifles, we have 2-3 turns left from our nap with RB.

These are my latest estimations. Shows that we could get rifling sooner than expected if everything works well.
Looks like a wonderful plan to me.

    • Sounds like a good plan. When do you think we could start researching and building some siege weapons?

      • After construction ofc, but we will not have too many sieges. We will compensate with superior strenght army.
The reason of writing updates rarely is that turns are very long now.. about 4 days.
Maya joined the war against the zulu, I have heard zulu emptied a city for them. Maya moved their army from our borders, I wonder if they want to battle cfc or they try to make peace.
        Otherwise not much happening.
        an economical data:
Maya has the highest raw commerce
We have the highest research rate
RB economy is suffereng greatly (big army , few courthouses, few trade partners)
cfc is slowed down however their war with zulu will end in this turn (zulu will be eliminated) and they got cities and land far cheaper than RB.

I agree with this. We need 50% siege units in the Army if we intend to attack a city.

          • I think we'll aim for cannons.

            • Civ is about adaptation not strict rules. We should not wait to reach 50% siege when we have a time window to attack with rifles against maces. But whether we will attack Egypt or not in the close future still depends on many things. We need a big enough army or strong allies, a secured west front etc.
Cannons will come eventually, but after rifling we we want to decide whether we go for that or try to rush for the next phase in infantry units.

                • popped in to see situation.

                  screen popped up:

                  civplayers (Aztecs)
                  offered spices (1 of 3)
                  offered gems (1 of 1).

I did not accept either offer. Nor is the turn ended, But I suppose these offers may fit with our plans. so nothing is lost.

                  • We have a situation: unfortunately Egypt made a big advance towards wanzeleben(?), the city we want. If we are to declare war on inca we have to do it in the beginning of the next turn. we must convert our spy target city before we move in with our forces so there is a risk egypt will destroy the city. We also need to cnsult with inca urgently.
There is also an option that we give up taking wanzeleben, but we still have o do the taosim conversion now, because Egypt will see our missionary when they move.

                          • I think we all agreed on that we will try to steal from Egypt. Unless you have a good idea/plan you can leave the detils on me. In some cases i just need to change the plan too quickly to wait for reaction.

The real question however is this: should we take a city from Inca. this would have big effect on how I use the missionary, because declaring war->no more free movement on inca land so we need to convert in the next turn.

But should we take the city at all.. I was not decided and hoped the decision could be made 1-2 turns later, but if we want the ciy we need to act now. so after a big debate with myself i cast my vote on NO. My reasoning: I believe it's not worth it. Not worth to use cheap tactic to get a city.
                            But let's decide together:

Should we attack inca (with their "permission") and try to get the border city?:
                            YES
                            NO

                            pros:
-a city, eh? (though slaved/whipped very badly)
                            -better defensive position against RB

                            cons:
-some might think that it is an exploit of the rules, a cheap tactic to deprive Egypt a city. We know zulu/maya did the same but still.
-our spy mission has a bit better chance to get the techs cheaper.
-we can still get the city from Egypt later.

For our invasion- if we still decide on it- to be succesful we need to talk with inca and agree with them.
So cast your vote, i'd like to see as many votes as possible, we have about 16-20h to decide

                              • They have razed the first two, and kept 2-3. I see no more settlers building so i guess they don't plan to raze more.
