I did not have too much time to play yet, but we got Taoism at last! The holy city is Aurora which is strange, usually it's the newest city.
It wouldbe nice if we could get a prophet to build the holy shrine.
Some wonders were finished this turn byother teams, probably RB again..
I'm finally starting to feel good about this game. If we grab philo first and if can really manage settle at least a half dozen new cities (while maintaining enough workers and defenders to keep up with our needs) then we'll actually be in pretty good shape. We're running out of space to expand fast though so we'd better plop those cities down, have one city pumping out military units, and another sending out guys to convert our cities. If we do that though we're in great shape provided no one attacks us for a while.
Still no word from Civ.de but as RP noted earlier, they tend to be slow in responding as they need to check with their team members. However the last time looked, their settler looked less determined move west at the same pace.
It can not be tech stealing, but the barb city is a good guess. It must have been a pop 5 barb city to give 10 points. Since I can't see an other way we must assume that this is what happened.. lucky bastards . With this one they got 4 new cities in the last 4-5 turns.
btw we are encountering suprisingly low number of barbs recently.. only a single warrior in the last 15 turns.
We just finished our courthouses and the slaving had its price, our cities are small now, we are low on production, so first we grow back. We will have 3 settlers in the next 10 turns, one is going for the stone unless the Inca does something bad there, the other two is not decied yet. I'm tempted that we should send one of them west to establish border with the Maya, but it's a costly operation.
Some info from current turn:
We made contact with maya (I did it in a way that they can not see where we were coming from). They are quite advanced with technolodies like ironworking, construction, calendar etc. They are number 1 in pop, with pop 14 and 12 cities. I allocated our spying efforts on them to get the graph info at least, but if we are gona steal technologies then probably they are our best target. I think we should try to talk to them and make a border treaty that they won1t expand north more than their last city.. they probably refuse, but we can still try.
The aztec got Christianity! they had two religion already so I think the only reason they went for it is to build the Apostolic palace.
And one more: somehow during the turn the CFC team got a 10 point score bump. Now I know very well the game mechanics but I just see no way to get 10 points.. (no population, no new city, no bulbed tech, not finished wonder, no land expansion.. so no idea..)
OK, and we're still planning on about a half dozen new cities? I recommend our next two should be first the one on the stone and second the one near the crab as that would pretty much flesh out our border region with the Inca. Can we recommend making the desert region as the defacto border where we stay on one side of the desert and they stay on the other?
I agree that it is time to flesh out our borders by planting as many cities as possible. We've completed several courthouses via slavery and I believe we've already researched metal working (how are the forges coming?) so it is now or never wrt expanding.
We started Metal casting but switched to the polytheism, monotheism, civil service, path.
