    The Royal Palace in Paris

As Phillipe entered the library, his wife looked up from where she had been reading. Queen Dominique gathered her thoughts before speaking.

"So, Phillipe. You have no doubt heard the gossip, or read the wretched papers."

    "Yes, dear, I have."

"And, what do you have to say about it?"

King Phillipe fell to his knees in front of his wife; his wife of almost 30 years.

"My dear, the accusations are groundless and mere rumor mongering by the Turkish press. I suspect they have some political motive, trying to link me to this Aysecan woman. I can truthfully say that I have never strayed from the path of faithfulness to you, my beloved."

Queen Dominique took Phillipe's head in her hands and kissed him on the lips. "Thank you my dear. Dinner will be ready, but perhaps that can wait for a bit."

We thank you Philippe of France for your assurance of Aztec neutrality.
You have our assurance that France will respect the neutrality of Aztec territorial waters.
We assume the great distance between our empires makes information gathering difficult. But we really have to tell you that your informers got two elements of information wrong:

We also would like to extend our congratulations on your ascension to power
Our exalted leader Camaxtli is still in power. Prince Xochipilli is the first in line for the Aztec throne, but still has to prove himself.

and also for your recent and emphatic victory in the World Aztlimaztli Play Championship
Tomorrow is the deciding day of the Aztimaztli Championship. Find attached to this message two front seat tickets for the final game:
Prince Xochipilli's Aztec Wanderers vs. the Tenochtitlan Bouncers of the famous Lelac Tlac.
During this game there may be a chance that representatives of your government get a chance to meet Camaxtli in person.

Official communiqué of the Government of Mali:

Great Negus Nagast Musa is concerned about the ongoing war between the great European nations Russia, and Turkey against France, Germany and Egypt-Israel. This war continued for a whole lifetime and probably nobody wants it to last even one human generation. Mali offers all the following non-aligned countries to unite in a community within the framework on which to solve our problems without war among themselves and with the dialogue between us. We should not let us engage in this conflict. We can conclude a defensive alliance between us and everyone who is attacked by a third party will mean that all countries of the Non-Aligned league will be at war with the aggressor. In this way we will prevent the expansion of the conflict - individually we are weak but together we will become the biggest force.

The great question for royalty watchers and politicians is today: “Who will be sitting where ?”
Rumors have it that representatives of the Russian and French government will be attending the final game.

Game update: Aztec Wanderers vs. Tenochtitlan Bouncers
Aztec Sports brings you all the latest sports news and world sports updates, providing comprehensive coverage of sports in Mexico and worldwide.

The Final Game is now 2 hours on the way. The Tenochtitlan Bouncers have had the edge in the first half. They scored a boink in the last minute of play.
The score now stands at 14-3. The Aztec Wanderers are on the run, and Prince Xochipilli’s teammates continue to make mistakes.
Reztlac’s drop on the fake punt, put the Bouncers in position to score their second small hoop. Fertli lets the ball drop.
Drezma missed two times the all important Hip-to-Hoop shot.

Bouncers fans rejoice when Lelac Tlac makes the last minute boink.

The other team, the Tenochtitlan Bouncers, are showing their best play, with Lelac Tlac as the absolute star. He scored 10 points, including two boinks.
With these points he now has broken the 10 year old all-year scoring record of famous Maztl Sanxi, making him the best player in history.
Will he be able to continue this level of play and achieve his 4th Aztlimaztli championship?

I nominate Crulac as my favorite first half player. I bet prince Xochipilli will really give a sizzling speech during half-time.
His wide bumpers only have one bump, and his central has no points. I hope Xochi will send out a different Wanderers team from the locker room.

But first we all have to wait until the Quetzocatl ceremony is finished.

At the Royal Ball Court in Mexico...

Taner, the High Messenger, on leave during the tentative peace has decided to take in some Aztec Championship Aztlimaztli. Traveling incognito, he obtains a ticket to the final game, and proceeds to get completely smashed drunk, throughly enjoying both the game and Aztec intoxicating spirits.

After getting thouroughly smashed, Taner heads over to the betting counter and bets his entire fortune, his house, his wife, and his dog... a prize Neandor Shepherd that the Prince's Xochi's Wanderers will make the shocking comeback victory.

"Pudish allon... Allllll On!... Hic! I mean put all my moneeey on derPrinsh... Hic... Prinsss Ssssotchi... Hic! Iffeee winshhh, I geddin a new dog... Hic... and naming her Sssotchi-Getsalllll! Ha haaaa! Im gonna breedem!"

Taner heads back to his seat and bumps into a stunning woman wearing a beauifully woven black sundress... and the hat of a horserancher, very common in Turkey.

Holding his hand up to sheild his eyes from the sun, he see she is glaring at him angrily for his clumsiness. Squinting his blurrred eyes, he almost swears this woman must be Irina, leader of the Accolytes!... "What is she doing in Mexico?" he thinks.

Official statement of princess Catherine from the Russian Court

                    Rabbi of the Israelis,

My mother Catherine The Great have proposed you her friendship and place in the society of the progressive and civilized nations in the world. Even more - she offered you this for nothing - she asked only for your support and all the spoils of the war she offered to you. You choose to betray her and side with these warmongers and ethnic cleaners the French.

Then I came and asked you once again, to throw off the French, offering you my friendship and support on all matters which you may need. I even offered you negotiating your Holly City site. You told me that I must not expect from you to do something stupid and threatened me with war. If rejecting Russia's friendship twice for you is something stupid, we can understand and accept this, but dont expect us to think about you as friends.

What are they now talking about in the locker room?
As the Aztec Wanderers are a dramatic 14-3 behind in today’s game against the Bouncers a lot can and will be said. Especially as the Quetzocatl ceremony is taking longer than normal.
The ceremony has been repeated three times until now, but still the gods are not appeased.

The Locker Room door of the Aztec Wanderers

But let us recount the last interview we had with prince Xochipilli in the meantime. In this interview he admitted that he did not always know the spirit of his dressing room
but that it was also not something he could not afford to take for granted.

"We have a united spirit but you have to take care of your attitude and your spirit," he said.
"The players have to take care of that because it is as fragile as the weather in Europe. It is quickly cloudy."

"It's strange because when you have no attitude or spirit you have no results and when you have results you can lose it quickly.
I believe we have a good attitude and a strong togetherness and that is something that came out against the Maya Kings.”

"I never felt there was an issue spirit-wise at the club or within the team. I felt that always we had a good spirit but it's something
as well that's difficult to measure when you aren't living every day in the dressing room. You do not always know everything."

                        Gods Appeased, game resumed
Aztec Sports brings you all the latest sports news and world sports updates, providing comprehensive coverage of sports in Mexico and worldwide.

After the fourth consecutive ceremony for Quetozocatl the game can be finally resumed. Tension rises to a new sizzling level.

The Aztec Wanderers were a little slow getting going in the first period of the second half. Reztlac put the first point on the board late in the period
with the Bouncers answering back in the last two minutes with two bumps. First from Lelac Tlac, Second from Big Eagle with Clulac assisting both.

Second period Cartli from the Wanderers really stepped up their game with some good hard bumping and great passing plays to add a whopping nine points to Reztlac’s one.
Making the score 16-13, with the Boucners still in the lead, but the Wanderers recovering.

Third period Lelac Tlac shut down the Wanderers team while his team mates continued their offensive drive and added another three little hoops to the scoreboard.
Startli assisted by Stigis and Clulac, Big Eagle with help from Hengi and Aztli. Score: Bouncers 25 – Wanderers 13.

But now, while it is already getting quite dark, over for some live coverage of the last part of the game..

At this dramatic change of fortune we share with you the comments of the Camaxtli looking at the accomlishments of the Aztec Wanderers and his beloved son Xochi:

"Yes.. yes.. HOOOOOOOP HOOOOOP HOOOOOP HOOOOOOOOOOOP. Unbelieveable!

AAAhh, he did it and with a Hip-to-Hoop!!! Unbelievable.. my son Xochi....

                        HOOOOP HOOOOOP"

The final moments of the game and the Aztlimaztli ceremony

Aztec Sports brings you all the latest sports news and world sports updates, providing comprehensive coverage of sports in Mexico and worldwide.

After this amazing recovery of the Wanderers and the ingenious Hip-to-Hoop of Xochi the Bouncers have to make a hoop within 2 minutes to turn everything around..

                          Let us see what happens..

As we all could see Lelac Tlac came very, very close but in the end it was Xochi who received the silver ball, the highest sports prize any Aztec can receive.

After that our beloved leader Camaxtli stood up and honored him even more by giving him permission to use the Royal Galley and appointed him as member of the Aztec Gold Circle, his trusted cabinet of advisors.

The gods must be pleased with Xochi, as last two editions of the Aztlimaztli finale ended without a Hoop.

Camaxtli at one of the happiest moments of his life

                            The Fall of London

The mighty British fleet controlled the English channel. It could land troops where it saw fit. Plymouth had recently fallen to the seaborne assault. The English now targeted London.

The British Grenadiers landed on the outskirts of London and advanced on the city.

The first defenders they met were the London Auxiliaries - a French musket unit that was recently formed for city defense. The Grenadiers were already advancing in line. One volley and the inexperienced defenders were on the run.

The Grens were in the city, clearing out the remaining musketeers, but also encountering stiff resistance from a mace unit - the Tower Guard. The guard fought an effective rearguard action in the narrow streets of London, with their final stand at the Tower itself.

Their commanding officer was a hardened veteran. Colonel Martin Riel had little use for modern weaponry. He and his men were mace men. Armored infantry. And they were ready. They would defend the tower to the last man.

Theoretically, the British Grenadiers should have dispatched the mace men easily, given their obsolete weaponry. But Riel's men knew the terrain, and the tower. The battle raged for two days, and against all odds, the Tower Guard was still standing at the end. The bodies of British Grenadiers were piled at the base of the walls, and their blood stained the white stone of the tower.

But the defenders were greatly outnumbered. For every gren they killed, two took his place. And the British were angry and frustrated, and out for revenge. With a fierce cry of "Charge!" the 5th Icelandic Grenadiers stormed the tower walls to end the battle.

Colonel Riel and his mace infantry died to the last man. They had held out far longer than either the French or the English had expected. But in the end, London fell to the attackers. The city, once the capitol of the English people, had returned to their hands.

The Industrial Revolution: The Inca Economy in 1600AD

The Inca economy continued to heavily transform itself throughout the 16th century, as it shifted heavily towards productive output. Its rise in productivity during this period was almost unparalleled in human history, more than doubling in under 150 years. In 1455, after the sunset of the great golden age, the Inca were a measly 13th in productive output, well below the global average and heavily below the average output of the "great powers" of that era; by 1600AD, the Inca had shot up to between 3rd and 5th greatest in output, depending on the golden ages and economic diversification of the year. Compared to the period prior to the Inca golden age, the change was even more dramatic, rising from 16th to 3-5th.

While in the 15th century, the Inca were a great financial power, in the 17th century the Inca had managed to expand their economy into a more balanced form compared to those of its rivals, and one capable of keeping pace with the rapid military mobilizations of the Eurasian continents, although the Inca continued to live by their word of being a pacifistic and liberal people, quite distanced and uninterested in the simple and brutish political affairs of the other "civilized centers".

Trade partners had shifted heavily during the prior centuries. In the 14th century, Inca exports were dominated by trade with Neander, with China, the Ottomans, the Russians, the French, and the Vikings all taking fairly equal shares under them.

In the mid-15th century, the exports had, due to the complex and fragile politics of the day, altered severely and into a fairly unstable state, with Israel, America, and the Aztecs picking up the slack left by the closed borders of Neander, France, and the Vikings. At this time, the Chinese also became the primary export market for Inca goods, a fact that would not change in the 16th and into the 17th centuries.

Indeed, by 1600AD, China was dominating Inca trade with 30% of the total, 80.1M in sales. Behind her was Japan, a relatively new market for Inca goods, having just become a regular trading partner in 1455AD. By 1600, the Japanese accounted for roughly 25% of the Inca export market. Behind them were a far reduced Neander market, a yet smaller Russian market, and marginal Aztec, American, Viking, and Israeli markets. The English had disappeared from intercontinental trade, and the Ottomans were blocked out by the closed borders enforced by Inca diplomatic concerns.

The domestic economy was not solely fueled by exports, although they did account for 17% of the total, down from 20% in 1455 and 22% in 1300. When adjusted for a variety of factors, however, exports were still 24% of Inca output.

Infrastructure investments were paying off by this time, now calculated to contribute 30% to the economy, up from 20% in 1300. The remainder of the economy was split between nature-based activity (maritime and river fisheries in particular) and urban activity, with small slices added by resource extraction and governmental benefits.

It was further estimated that specific Inca cultural traits were responsible for 8% of economic activity. Although no figures are available for prior dates, it is assumed to have become much smaller than in earlier times, where economists suspect it was contributing 15% or more towards the economy.

At any rate, the Inca economy was set to explode over the next centuries as the various loans sent out during the Great War were due to be returned to the Inca economy. The full extent of those loans, and their recipients, were still not known to the regular Inca people, nor to the international community, such tightly kept secrets were they. This was partly due to the diplomatic sensitivity of the subject and partly due to the staggering amounts that would have likely pushed the aristocracy into open revolt if made public. The fact that they would "pay for our economic progress for the next 200 years" perhaps is a sign that their size was quite great indeed.

Flush with new capital, Inca bankers were to again flood the international markets with loans to needy nations. The ruling coalition had also promised to focus more on defensive military production and infrastructure building, leveraging the new steel technologies and upcoming astronomical technologies, rather than continuing the headlong dash towards increased general production, which now would level off until the next great Inca golden age.
