It's amazing how your attempt to secure peace with your neighbour who actually WANTED peace resulted in war with this same neighbour. You really need to fire all of your diplomats!

If you want something from your neighbour (open borders, no hostilities) then you should be willing to pay them a price for it. You insisted that your neighbours would pay for.... helping you!

I suggest that we make China and Celts AI civs. Now they only get behind a lot and they delay the turns a lot.
I'm also fine if someone of us wants to sub for them. In that case, just keep them out of any war.

We had agreed already on turn order once.. you are changing your mind too fast.. first agreeing my terms then going war anyway, then changing the offered turn order. I hope you haven't declared war yet as it would count as a double move... but maybe we allow double moves in this game.. then I will do that too. (this is just an assumption since you said "if I want to contnue the war". If no war yet, then no double move have happened-still you said I'd start this turn )

I am unhappy with either as that makes easy meat for the Vikings and Babylonians to chew on and America will just take a single gulp to swallow China with the shape it's in. Better AI than nothing, I guess, but this thing is only set to Noble and the AI is utter rubbish.

Do we have a single non-aligned nation left in the game? Maybe Kahn could take the Celts as I doubt he has any axe to grind out there but China? I can't as that would sandwich America/Mongol and if Babylon did I could find a chop-stick rammed up my bottom!

Perhaps Vikings might be far enough away to be unbiased?

I suppose it won't make much difference as neither will be around for much longer but at least it will mean a fight for the greedy ones who would eat them up and spit out the bones.

I agree with Sumeria that subs are better than AI, though Sumeria was rather more silent on the issue when he was eating the Maya! But I certainly think we shouldn't have a longer than normal turn order just because of war with the none-played civs or worry about turn order for them though if there is a war between Rome and Egypt, then it looks like we are on longer turns anyway.

In the end this is the problem with non-voting non-storying diplo - the incentive to continue as a small nation is limited. I think it is hard to stop the collapse of small nation since we do allow elimination, and that can have an unbalancing effect (but hey its a game and some changeability by the Americans growing strong on a Chineese corpse might not be a bad thing). The other options is to be less stringent on our sense of who is 'involved' and allow non-neighbours to sub, but I can see tha tmakes people nervous (don't worry though Sumaria, I can promise you unequivocably that I will never assault your rear end with oriental cutlery). In the end I am not sure there is anything that can be done about it, and in practice I think RP is probably right - and better to just get on with it than keep one hoping that a sub will appear.

Let the Celts be put out of their misery - don't even AI them - let the Babes and Bikers split what little is left.

China is a shame but AI is pretty pointless so if no sub - I doubt anyone external would be interested though I have asked - then just let her be cut up as well. All I would say is that Genghis deserves a cut and it should not just be allowed to be a 'get there first' race between America, Russia and Sumeria as he doesn't have the ability to get there quick enough which the others do. He's stuck at it for long enough without any chance to expand to deserve his slice of the cake.

BTW Robert, I do know for certain who China was and he is in DoE so we are going to need a quickie sub/replacement or at least a temp kick to AI as otherwise it is going to ruin the game balance there very badly.
