  • This is not Khmer's doing. The Metals had only their own military at the start of the war and HRE and Celts were not involved. And Khmer military was certainly NOT involved then.

    Dyrya
    Great Durya,

It is always good to have moments when the trustworthiness of nations can be tested.

Sparta as you know well has just broken its bonds of friendship and torn up the treaty it signed over land in Piercia.

When my planes overfly the northern frontier of Spain again, I expect to see the massed Khmer modern armour remaining in place on the frontier, or withdrawing. If I see these huge formations of modern armour, looking identical, but suddenly flying HRE flag while you own divisions have mysteriously disappeared, all observors and I will take this as an act of war.

Both our nations are seasoned diplomatically. I have seen many wars personally. I understand the ways of nations, and have no desire to manufacture conflict between us by irrationally focusing the fact that in the past you supplied technology which is killing my men.

However, the past is the past. The present is different. I urge you, if you value peace between us, do not continue to ship armaments to Spain's invaders during this war.

Our relationship lies in your hands, Durya, and with it the possibility of peace in Meduia. I am in good discussion of peace terms with the Metalheads - an act of war by you against Rome now, will plunge Meduia into the Abyss.

    • Marcus,

Your tradition to label people you disagree with, as liars, oath breakers, untrustworthy and deceivers, becomes a bit ridiculous.
It is clear that Rome and Sparta have a different position on the issue of Russia. It is also clear that our opinions are coloured by our position. But call all your enemies and liars makes your own case look quite silly. You are losing credits, especially since you fail to backup your claims.

Sparta has not lied or betrayed any nation. Neither has Sparta broken any treaty or bound of friendship.

I will not accuse you of betrayal or lies, even when you choose that we will become enemies. I salute you for standing up for your Pax Romana and your will to defend the foolish Russians.

I wish that you would have the courage to do the same to your enemies.
Fight them where you need to fight them, but show respect when your enemies deserve respect.

Sparta deserves none of your ill words.
Our actions towards Russia have been explained very well, we have showed our reasons for this war, we gave Russia chances to avoid this war. We have done everything to prevent this war. You may very well disagree with Sparta on all these things, but don't be ridiculous. Sparta did not lie or betray anybody. Stop making your words unbelievable.

In the past I would have believed your accusations of the Khmer, but now I know how easily you accuse me, I cannot do anything but believe the Khmer this time. Not because the Khmer have much of my trust, but because you have showed that your accuses and words are not supported by facts but only by your biased desires to blackmail your enemies and your complete lack of respect to your enemies.

      • The Pact between Japan/Sparta and Russia/Rome, entitled: "The Treaty of Pierced Hill"

The terms of the Treaty of Pierced Hill
        1. Peace is signed between all four nations.
        2. Ex Piercian territory currently held by Japan is Japanese, ex Piercian territory currently held by Russia is Russian.
(For the avoidance of doubt this means that Horse Valley, Asizia and Pierced Hill are Russian; PoPer, WildKoPer and Pierced Harbour are Japanese).
        3. Rome and Sparta both pledge to uphold Japanese territorial integrity (on the boundaries defined in 2 above) for the next 100 years.
I Marcus Emperor of Rome sign this agreement.

I, Yukawa Hideki, prime minister of Japan sign the Treaty of Pierced Hill.

I, Menelaus II, king of Sparta and Japan, also sign this peace proposal.

Fact: Russia never signed this treaty!

According to this treaty Rome is still bound to defend the territorial integrity of Japanese Piercia.
Sparta does not break the treaty by declaring war on Russia after being provoked by Russia for many many years.

Your golden tongue won't help you this time, Rome.
More and more nations become aware that behind your golden tongue there's an iron sword, and this iron sword has conquered most land of all nations on earth.

It is not Sparta or Khmer or Metalheads that lies and twists words.
It's Marcus 'golden tongue' Aurelius who twists the truth.

Rome conquered Portuguese cities an razed some
        Rome conquered Russian cities
        Rome conquered Piercian cities
Rome conquered the entire Mayan nation
Rome wages war against the Metalheads
Rome wages war against the Holy Romans and the Celts
And now Rome treats Sparta with war!
And now Rome treats Japan with war!

When will the Roman people see that their leaders are warmongering liars.

        Marcus the Golden Tongue
        Marcus the Biased Liar
        Marcus the Treaty Breaker

        • The inevitable loss of Xristo City

Tidings fellow Khmerians and Meduians all.

Regretably I need to inform you that the city of my birthplace has now been over-run by Portuguese troops. Our losses have been enormous. Our lone city stood bravely against the entire New Portugal war machine but one city with sea support lines can not hold on forever and the loss was inevitable. Khmer troops attempted a "Dunkirk" style evacuation but Pantev's keeness for a victory was paramount after heavy losses.

Alas, I can not say what harm Khmer has ever done to Portugal. But now is not the time to lay blame as peace efforts are still under way - having faltered for the moment.

I work hard for peace and also continue dialogs with all nations of Meduian to make sense of the over escalated war with Spain.

The world is in turmoil and paranoia is rife. There are wars far afield as that drag ever more nations closer to the brink.

My sympathies to all the families who have sufferred in all the wars.

The SS Meduian remains partly constructed but I can not turn our production to SS parts whilst Khmer is in danger.

Diplomacy is the answer and there are great leaders in the world, many I respect, even as foes. Here lies some hope for the world.

          • This morning I woke up to the smell of smoke and the sound of boots on the road. The loud thud of my door slamming open into the wall made me open my eyes. "Roberto Gonzales, my old friend..." I muttered to the person in the light. My former first officer greeted me and something in the look in his eyes made me get up immediately.

The next hours were a hectic roller coaster. Gonzales explained the situation to me. Spain needed me to return from banishment. The country was being torn apart. I needed to take command of my trusted First Legion again and try to turn the tide of war by sheer command presence. Wait... I am going to fast... You need to know more...

I was banished 10 years ago by Queen Penelope, because, well, what reason has there ever been for a leader to banish someone: I was getting too visible; my men, the faithful First Legion, were following me, not her. She felt threatened. The fact that I would have died for her didn’t make a difference. Come to think of it, I still would… No time for thoughts like that now…

After arriving in Madrid, accepting a salute from the army, or what’s left of it, first order of business is to deal with the provisional government. You have to know, that at this time the Romans had bled Spain to the bone. Conscription has drained our population, and whatever happens next, Spain will never be the same. I was unsure what I would find in the offices of the Imperator. Would I find a man, a general dedicated to maintaining Spain, fighting with all his heart , a man who has the backing of his Emperor and intends to stop the hordes in their tracks. Or would I find something else… A game of chess, being played with Once Mighty Spain as a pawn.

Ayer estuve cuidando mi cabras... Yesterday I was tending my goats…

            • Alexander II,

Your ranting only proves your guilt. All know it.

You quote yourself the signature of your predecessor Menalaus to guarentee the territorial split in Piercia, and yet your ultimatum was that Russia give up all the territory Menalaus himself guarenteed them. You disgrace Menalaus.

And don't try to bring the Khmer into it. I have never accused Durya of lying. I am having a perfectly sensible diplomatic discussion over Khmer troop deployments. The facts of which Durya does not question. Similarly I would never accuase the Metalheads of lying - there are a strong, clever enemy but not oath-breakers.

There have been three oath breakers in Roman's knowledge, each of which broke public treaties:
              1. The piercians breaking the treaty which ended the second Roman-Russian war (notably this was done in conjuntion with Sparta).
              2. The mad Russian king St Andre, breaking the treaty of Ren. However the king was clearly mad so when teh Russians replaced him, we too no action.
              3. Sparta breaking the treaty which guarrenttees the split between Russia and Japan in old Piercia.

There is no more to say. You have chosen to attack the Pax Romana. Maybe you will win, maybe you will not. But it will not be settled in words.

              • Imperator Belesarius to Custos Marcus of Rome

                Marcus,

                Great news.

I have been pushing the Spanish High Command to find a Spanish leader for their nation. I understand well Rome's policy to never hold a nation under subjection, unlike the Spartas well known for their 'capitulate or die' brand of diplomacy.

To begin with the generals could not identify anyone, though the truth perhaps was that the situation in their northern territories seemed hopeless and few wanted to step forward.

But recently Spain and Rome have secured some notably victories. The HRE launched a marine assault against our airfields supported by heavy battleships, but brave Spanish riflemen fought like demons and destroyed them to a man. Meanwhile the Roman airforce attacked HRE/Khmer modern armour which was bearing down on the northern Spanish cities, breaking up the formations and preventing them from lauching an assault. Boyed up by this news Spanish citizens have started to flock to the entwined flag of Spain and Rome. Infantry formations in the north and centre have started to dig in. In truth the situation remains perilous, but there is a new spirit of confidence now that the Spanish have seen that their many enemies are not invincible.

And now, the best news of all, this new mood of optimism has drawn out a great Spanish general Alejandro Helvetico from exile. This is the man we were praying for - a well known general, strong in battle, cunning, and loved by the people.

I have a formal meeting with him today when I will hand over control of the Spanish military.

                    Hail Spainish People,

Today I stand before you with tidings of tough times to come... We find ourselves invaded, some of our people, nay, families ruled over by alien overlords. Trains of armies rampage our beautiful lands. And although we find ourselves with great friends on this world's stage, we are plagued by unreason.

I speak, of course, of the rumored peace offerings by those Metaleros, who not only demand we give up on what friends and family, and we ALL have those, that are already suffering today, but also throw in an additional swathe of lands , including all our overseas areas. I stand here before you, even as enemy troops are a days travel from Madrid, and swear to you, that is UNACCEPTABLE!!! We shall ALL pick up weapons, guns, pikes, hayforks if need be, and stop this insanity. There shall be NO surrender!!!

We plead on our foreign allies to aide us in whatever way they can, with reinforcements, with diversions, with their prayer, for we shall pray for THEM when we fall, knowing that after we are done with, they might well be next in this harvest of insanity.

I wish you courage in these dark days!

I would like to start by introducing myself. I am General Alejandro Helvetico, commander of the First Legion, Governor of Spain. I inherit an empire at war. I inherit friendships with some amongst you, and animosity with others.

To the first group my undying gratitude for standing by us in the past, for standing by us in our current ordeals, and for standing by us in the future. Please know, that I am a man in debt.

On the last group I wish just to waste these words: we are Spanish and do not lie down quietly.

Lastly a personal well wishing to my masters, Lord Emperor Custos Marcus Aurelius and ex-Imperator Belesarius, whom I hope will continue to assist the Spanish in the capacity of our foreign minister, for we owe them and their people much.

Today Russia was attacked by a massive Greek invasion focused on our Capital. A courageous move indeed against a poor and weak nation! In the West, Greek tanks repainted in Japanese colours advanced into Free Piercia and bear down upon Pierced Hill. The citizens tremble for fear that they will return to servitude and brutality under Japan's tender mercies.

We then receive a laughable 'Peace Offer' from Greece. What does Russia answer Alexandra? Russia says NO! Next came lies about Russia never having signed The Treaty of Pierced Hill. Here is what President Vladimirovich said on that issue:~

We will honour all Treaty obligations and accept 100 Years of Non-Aggression between our nations. You must understand that what happens when your whelp has been weaned Menelaus is a grave worry. Should they escape your disciplene what is to stop further abuses and crimes against humanity being committed by them? Let them know that if any breach of this Treaty be committed Russia will act. I hope that you can keep your puppy muzzled and on a very tight leash.

The very words of Russia's late lamented President Rostislav Vladimirovich! Included in that statement was the warning over the consequences of any Treaty breach. President Vladimirovich was an honest man who kept his word. I will not forget his memory or abandon his promises.

You were warned Alexandra that Russia was no Japan, Maya, Korea or Inca! Russia has had no choice but to invoke Pax Romana and call upon the aid of her Allies. Have fun Alexandra for your holiday in Novgorad will be short indeed. As for your whelp, Alexandra beware for not one of your tanks will live to see Greece again.

We shall prevail even if it costs us the last drop of Russian blood. Never shall with either forgive or forget this monsterous act and you shall never forget your punishment for it!

                        • Alexander,

What is the point of continuing to talk? You have just captured the capital of Russia, and your tanks assault Piercied Hill (yes the Japanese flags on them look nice).

But you asked a question of how your action violate the Piercian split treaty.

                          It is quite simply.

                          The treaty said:

And yet your latest two proclamations were:

Now I lay this ULTIMATUM upon you, hand over all of Piercia to Japan before the next period starts*.
If you fail to do so my armies will raze Novograd immediately.
After Novograd has been razed my armies will continue to conquer Russian Mainland cities till you have returned all of Piercia to the Japanese.

                          This cannot be negotiated.
We offer you peace, these are the terms:
                          - Sparta returns Novograd to Russia
                          - Russia returns Pierced hill to Japan
So Menalaus signed a formal peace agreeing that Pierced Hill was Russia, while you launch war on the basis of an Ultimatum that Pierced Hill (and Horse Valley and Asizia) should be taken from Russia. You then propose that in exchange for their capital Russia should give you Pierced Hill.

Sparta signed a treaty that Pierced Hill was to be Russian. Now you demand that they give it to your empire, launch war because they don't and your repainted tanks are attacking it as I write.

                          Oath-breaker.

You will meet the same fate as the Piercians, for the same crime. As they did, you will have some quick successes since your forces were massed for this purpose secretly, but your destruction will come.

                            • Marcus,

First I must say that I stand corrected, Russia did sign the Pierced Hill Treaty indeed. That doesn't change anything, by the way, since I already reasoned as if they had signed.

You still fail to show how Sparta has broken the treaty.
The treaty was signed and Sparta made peace with Russia.
Now, almost 100 years later, there is new war between Sparta and Russia.
I don't see how the Treaty of Pierced Hill prohibits such a war.

The treaty only guarantees the Japanese territorial integrity in Piercia for a 100 periods. The treaty doesn't speak about such an integrity for Russia.
The fact that this is explicitly included for the Japanese shows clearly that it is not included for the Russians.

Not to mention of course that you first blame me for starting a war against Russia for insults made 20-60 years ago while you now blame me as well for not living up to an even more ancient treaty.

                              What do you want, Marcus?
Explain me once again how Sparta violates the treaty of Pierced Hill. We only end it.
We never made an oath to keep peace with the Russians forever.

We did not want to start this war.
It was Russia who pushed us into this war. Do not forget who you are defending.

-I showed you a picture how my territorial integrity was kept.. Russia has stolen many lands from us after the treaty
-where is in the teatry that we should bear all the insults, spy infiltration, lies from Russia?
