The chief envoy approaches the bench and hands over the scroll to Tribune Hieronymus "a treaty of vassalage" he states. The tribune opens and reads, his brow furrowed with concentration, until he bursts out laughing "but brave warrior, this is a treaty for Rome to become vassals of Oldonia". "I bring what great King Kev has sent" he replies.

"Sadly my friend, we cannot accept this generous offer of your lordship" replies the Tribune, but I can offer you some excellent Portuguese wine for your labours. Come.

As they walk out the Tribune confides to his secretary "I damn well nearly signed it! Its a good job I read the small print."

              Greetings Chief,

It is the first time in my reign that I adress you directly, and I know that the Empress Iris always spoke highly of your wisdom. I would like to read what your opinion about the current situation is.

I have recieved your announcement stating that you won't allow western troops to pass on your lands in order to join the war. I respect your attitude and offer my assistance in case any western civilization should try to force passage through your lands.

Consider this as a reward for your quick assistance during the reign of Empress Iris. You can count on me.

I would understand if you choosed to answer to this letter in private.

Emperor Aun'O Asiz Asizia of the Piercian Empire

              Unto: The Piercian Empire

              Greetings Emperor Aun'O Asiz Asizia,

With the current situation in our world, the Wyandot people do not want to see an all-out war (especially in Wyandot lands), but in addition, we do not want to have to close our borders with our neighbors either. This is why the Wyandot have decided that foriegn troops can travel through Wyandot lands but only in a maximum group of 2 units at a time.

If war is in fact going to occur, the Wyandot know that they cannot stop it from happening - but with the movement limit of 2 units at a time, the Wyandot can hopefully slow-down a war build up until calmer heads prevail.

Piercia has always been a freind to the Wyandot people and we thank you for your kind words of support.

Chief Tarhe of the Wyandot Nation

                    • To Maya: We ask that you resume what you promised us.

TO the nations of the World: We have posted the last letter Maya gave us. We were promised Ivory for free and a technology that we want in the future.

6-7 periods ago Maya cancelled their ivory delivery to Portugal!

This is an illegal act, which they themselves have given their word that they will follow on.

We have asked Sparta sometime ago to mediate this and have Maya explain their illegal actions towards us.

Copy of Maya's promise to Portugal.

                      Re: Re: Machinery
I can give my word. Make it a public trade if you like.

I am researching optics, which is around the same beakers as machinery.

Consider my word to be the first in many Portaguese/Mayan interactions. Consider us your friend in the south, you may need us if Rome and Percia decide to gang up again.

Your counter proposal has merits, but as I said you can always cancel that resource and when the time arrives and I see that you have a tech I need. How would I know that you will follow up on the deal 100-500 years down the road?

Would you consider giving us Machinery now in exchange for a tech of your choice in the future? This would assure an even trade.

In addition, once trade routes are established with the Portuguese, we will gift a resource of your choosing.

Let us know if this counter proposal is suitable.

We ask the world for their opinion on this matter.

                      • Piercia - Rome

                        Thank you for your statements!

There seems to be differences in both nations requirements for peace.

Portugal has send Rome a letter asking for what compromises are they ready for. We will post as soon as we get their answer.

Portugal's opinion is that Rome will have to return New M to the Russ. Still Russ's past atrocities can not be ignored, they have to make payment for the razing of Old M and return that land which was Old M.

I feel strongly that if Piercia agrees on having the Russ return that rigid mountain terrain of Old M to Rome, Rome will transfer the ownership of New M to the Russ people.

There should be a fair conclusion to this latest crisis in our region. We have seen that if the past is not fixed, the future is unstable and war can always resume.

Both parties have to leave the negotiating table feeling satisfied!

Lets round 2 of negotiations start.

                        • Noble King Henry,

Thank you for your initial thoughts. As we have maintained we wish to be flexible and have everything on the table.

You ask regarding compromise and make some suggestions regarding Mediolaneum. We are certainly most willing to hand New Mediolaneum over to the Pericians, in exchange for original Mediolaneum (which is now the Rus city called Omsk).

We do wonder what compromise the Piercians are willing to make and how peace in the east is to be guarenteed?

                          • The Senate was in uproar

"King Henry of Portugal?". "Yes" replied the tribune "that is defintely how the message was signed". "But what does this mean? Has Marco died? Has he handed over his kingship to his son?"

"We wil find out, don't worry, but we must prepare a gift for the new King, and if the worst has happened, for the funeral of wise old marco".

As the senators left the staff were left in confusion - should the Senate House be decked out in festive celebration or in black?

That you for your proclamation regarding your trade treaty with the Maya. Rome is a firm believer that nations should stick to their word in trade. We are confused however in this matter. We have always thought of the Maya as a civilised nation, and so presume that there must be more to this case than what you present. What do the Maya say? Presumably they are not simply saying that they agree that they owe you ivory and technology but are not going to pay. Perhaps if you or the Maya could enlighten us, for at the moment is does seem an open and shut case, but we have learnt that many things in life are more complicated.

I have been trying to keep Japan out of the affairs of other nations since I took over. Never the less Marco was a good friend to Japan and we have always respected him. But what did he expect when he delt with the barabian Mel Gibson? My father put put Mel Gibson high on our Bingo book (list of targets that must be killed on sight) for many years. Never the less since Japans opinion mean close to nothing since we are small both in size and military power nothing we say or do will make a differance. So I wish you luck in dealing with the Mayans.
