  • To : Penelope, Queen of Spain

    • To Piercia and Rome

      Rome:

      Thank you Rome for coming forward and offering a compromise to the last failed round of negotiations.

      Now I ask that Piercia analysis what Rome has offered and publically reply to their last proposal.

      Piercia

      When posting your reply, we ask kindly that you elaborate a bit on your decision.

      I thank you both

      • Ieyasu saw a copy of the Roman peace proposal. He laughed out load and asked his military advisor to look at it. “You can’t be serious,” said the advisor. “Those Romans are too much. First they take from the weak and now they wish to take from someone who only wished to stop the fighting.” Ieyasu then regained his composure, “ Those Romans are always looking to take advantage of every situation aren’t they. To think they would openly tell how large their forces are and then in this so called peace treaty to state they would not talk again until three more Piercian cities have been taken is just too funny. It is like they want war almost as bad as we do. Hahaha.” Ieyasu then turned to his advisor and said,” Gather my samurai we will be heading to Kai then to war.”

        • Otto settled slowly into his favorite chair. His age was well adavnced, and his body was showing the effects. But his mind was still as sharp as ever, and there were tasks to attend to.

          The new head advisor, Simon the Younger walked into the room, somewhat unsure of himself. He does look like his father Otto mused, and what's more important, he has his father's two most important traits: diplomatic acuity, combined with complete dedication to the Empire. Now, we only need to work on his self-confidence Otto thought to himeself. But Otto was still convinced that his choice of young Simon over some of the more experieced advisory staff was the right one. Not only was Simon tutored by the master himself, but Simon also brough fresh perspective to world that seemed in constant upheaval.

          Otto: "Good day to you Simon. What is on our agenda today?

          Simon the Younger: "Good morning, My Lord. First the report from the New Holy Roman Lands. We are still bickering wit the Americans over the final details of the settlement. They offer one thing, then change their minds, we counter, and so it goes. We are getting close, and best of all, peace still prevails.

          Otto: "But we are ready if it doesn't?"

          Simon: "Yes, My Lord. We have let the American's occupy Nuremburg, but will not turn it over until there is a signed agreement. We are maintaining a garrison in Lubeck, and have, er, contingency plans if things take a turn for the worse.

          Otto: "Excellent. And now what about this noise the Celts are making."

          Simon:"The diplomatic corps have sympathy for their claim, My Lord. Recall the Metal cities on our borders?"

          Otto:"You do NOT need to remind me about our history young man.:

          Simon:" No My Lord. Of course, My Lord. My most humble apologies."

          Otto (chuckling):"Relax, Simon. It is more our history I am annoyed at than you. Besides, it doesn't seem like the Celts will get very far, given what we know of the Metal military."

          Simon:"No, My Lord, that is our analysis as well. The Metalheads have the longbow, and diplomatic rumor has it that they will have the new cross-bow soon."

          Otto:"So, what are the Celts up to? Maybe the Khmer will help them. Or maybe this Oldonian obsession with declaring war on everyone is contagious."

          Simon:"There has been no word from the Khmer on this either publicly or privately. Their last statement years ago was their "push" for diplomatic solutions."

          Otto:"Yes, I can just see the Metal agreeing to give up the city in question after diplomatic wrangling. I think all that will bring is loud music and mote troops. So, elsewhere in the world? Still a mess?"

          Simon:"From what we hear, worse than ever, My Lord. And now apparently Oldonia has fallen into complete anarchy. The Romans and Russians and Piercians and Portuguese continue a mighty dialogue. And the Spartans lost a king."

          Otto:"What, killed in battle?"

          Simon:"No, My Lord. They literally lost him. They do not know where he is."

          Otto:"Well, make sure the Cardinal adds a prayer for the lost king's safe return to this Sunday's service. I am sure our Lord Almighty may be able to guide him home, even if most of the congregation have never heard of him or Sparta."

          Simon:"Yes, My Lord. And there is one final item. The Serenity Island proposal you had asked for; it is completed"

          Otto:"Oh, joy to the world! Let me see the final draft, and then we will courier it out to all nations as soon as possible. The Good Lord knows that this violent and uncertain world urgently needs Serenity Island."

          • (OOC) If anybody is wondering what the Japanese letter says (because I'm not sure the Spanish player actually speaks Spanish) it isn't that big of a deal. He basically says that because of the war he can't visit Spain at the moment, but has sent a gift on a ship in the meantime. He also talks about how beautiful she remains (?) and comments about the war that has arisen with Portugal it looks like. At least that's what I can gather from the Spanish I know.

            • Rome claims we have no border agreements concerning the great mountains. But that is simply wrong. A deal was made ages past that our nations should split the mountains and their resources more or less evenly. Despite this Rome has the majority of both productive hills and resources, and now they demand more? Not only do they want to settle in this land, but it would be to our expense in form of land and grain. Do they know no end to their lust for power?

              They speak of losing a developed city and should be given a spearhead into our borders because of it? And by that they mean OUR DEVELOPED CITY!! The nerve of these people are beyond sanity. Tell our Emperor that whatever details Rome makes with Piercia on their border is fine with us, but we cannot allow them to settle on ours.

                • To : King Henry of Portugal, Tribune Hieronymus and the Senate of Rome

                  I hail you, neighbours,

                  I have read the Roman purposal, and I have to admit that it seems to have been given thought. However, there are major points I cannot agree to :

                  - Site A is in clear violation of the border treaty Rome has with my vassal and would only lead to cultural conflicts. This has to be reviewed.

                  - I cannot control or verify the spying missions of my vassal, therefore I cannot take any responsability for those.

                  - I cannot prevent other nations from disputing any Roman claims, even if they are mady by an eventual treaty for peace. Therefore I cannot take any responsability for those.

                  - While I can agree to guarantee peace on my side with technology, I can't agree to guarantee it on my vassal's side with technology. As previously said, I can however guarantee it by heavy military assistance in case my vassal decides to betray me by attacking Rome despite my express orders not to do so.

                  I will discuss this with the Aun and send you an alternative purposal as soon as I have found alternative solutions for the points we disagree on.

                  Emperor Aun'O Asiz Asizia of the Piercian Empire

                  • Serenity Island - A Proposal to the World

                    A Proposal to all Humanity

                    I, Otto I of the Holy Roman Empire propose the following to all civilizations of the world:

                    That given the violence and misunderstanding that exists in this complex, modern world;

                    That a common objective of peace and ethnic and religious tolerance would help stabilize the world, and therefore:

                    That the landmass known as “Skull Island”, lying NE of the Holy Roman Lands, be renamed as “Serenity Island”;

                    That “Serenity Island” become a permanent religious sanctuary for all mankind;

                    That one, two, or three cities will be founded there depending on the land area and resources; (note that the HRE cannot currently see said island)

                    That said cities will be founded by volunteer civilizations, capable of reaching the island. These civilizations will get naming rights for the cities consistent with the island’s purpose;

                    That said cities will be immediately turned over to the weakest one, two or three (depending on the number of feasible cities) civilizations score-wise;

                    That said cities will be re-assigned periodically (monthly?) based on scores at that time;

                    That said cities will be managed by the civilization they are assigned to, based on the following guidelines;

                    That no military units be allowed on Serenity Island, or in any of its cities (the one exception being if barbarians are a threat, in which case, said military units should leave as the threat is permanently removed);

                    That there be no construction of barracks or walls or other military or defensive infrastructure;

                    That all efforts will be made to make the city as economically viable as possible, while balancing the growth of religious infrastructure;

                    That each civilization containing a religious holy city send one, two, or three missionaries to the island to ensure all religions are represented; and furthermore:

                    That no nation on earth will violate the sanctity of the island, subject to the punishment by all other nations on earth;

                    That nations may make monetary contributions to the construction of “Serenity Island” religious and economic buildings when the appropriate civic is in place, and that said contributions would be acknowledged diplomatically by other civilizations;

                    That the Head of the Apostolic Palace be responsible for the overseeing of “Serenity Island” and its handover from civilization to civilization;

                    That this agreement may need changes to work effectively;

                    That civilizations may make recommendations from time to time for the improvement of this agreement, conditional upon the approval of a majority of the nations on earth;

                    And that all nations will respect the spirit and intent of “Serenity Island”.

                    Signed, Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor

                    In Aachen, this 26th day of November, in the Year of our Lord, 1130.

                    • To Piercia and Rome:

                      I thank you both for your constructive statements!

                      Rome

                      I fully agree with Piercia, it is clear that you have invested much thought into your compromise offer. I feel strongly that you are searching for ways to put an end to this crisis. I hope that your hard work for seeking peace pays off.

                      Piercia

                      Thank you for the prompt reply. I salute your peaceful intentions and willingness to try and find alternative solutions to Rome’s offer. I hope that you come with something equally interesting to both sides.

                      To both:

                      We are on the right track finally, next we await Piercia to revise Rome’s offer.

                              • Ieyasu got disturbing news the Romans where going to try and invade Ansuji. This angered Ieyasu very much. He ordered the nation to go into a police state and send the army north to the island. No one will take what is ours especially the Island we have lost many men to secure that island and we are not about to simply let these Romans take it. Word was sent to the forces already on the island, The second these Romans landed they were to be killed on sight!!!!!!
