I'm interested... I LOVE Sci-Fi

Actually... has anyone here read the Time Odyssey books by Sir Arthur C Clarke and Stephen Baxter? This idea reminds me of those books (there are differences - the books are about Rudyard Kipling and a troop of British Army Redcoats from 1885, who meet the crew of a helicopter from 2037, and then join up with Alexander the Great's army, before going to war against Genghis Khan, who has captured the crew of a Russian Space mission, also from 2037).

If this game ends up anything like those books... Count me in.

So Capo would you be interested in participating in a SciFi diplo game?


BTW Could you possibly share some of the resources of your diplo Mod? I'm particularity interested in changing the UN so it can:

-Adopt any civic
-Allows the secretary general to propose a blank resolution number X (X being the number of resolutions proposed so far + 1), that way we can have in game votes for just about any issue
-Force a truce like the AP
-Embargo a country like AP
-Make votes more frequent.
-Has a vote every 100 turns for Story/Diplo/military


I understand some of this is on your agenda already.

I would also love any input from anyone on how to divide Europe.


I was thinking that Portugal organizes all the Brazilian diaspora in Europe and sends them together with most of their illegal immigrants to colonize Brazil. As a sign of their dedication to rebuilding the country they rename themselves the Portuguese-Brazilian Union and rebuild the Cristo Redento in New Rio de Janeiro, the city has been built in a single year and is size 3 already it has an ariport, cahtedral and a dock. Its linked via a road to a second new city (size one) which has a Muslim population. Portugese transports are sailing to South America carrying 6 more settlers and 6 workers.

I was hoping something like the above could help balance Portugal and other countries like it a bit.

Its the first map I found. It seems a bit small actually.

The world in Beyond the Pit just feels sooo huge. How large is that map exactly? I really think the Earth in this game should be of similar size or even a bit bigger.


Now if we used this map we could actually use this to cheat a bit, we just take the map of the Earth 1000 AD scenario update Europe and kill off anything outside of Europe. If I remember right there are three cities in Iberia (one would be Portugal, two spain). We would need to make a bit of room for the single Swiss city perhaps at the expense of Greater Germany?

Also maybe we could cheat a bit by pushing Russia slightly east. Lets just add to the back story that they invaded the Caucasus too and that they only got about a third of the Ukraine.

Now there seems to be enough space for Eastern Europe, Greece, Turkish Istanbul and Poland. Maybe we could throw a strong Barbarian city (Greater Albania or Greater Serbia or something) in the balcans that EEU, Italy and Greece could compete to conquer.


But again I added detail in Europe would be great.
Ireland is pretty spacius maybe combine it with the Benelux and call it "Western EU" or something.


Also Northern EU would be better named the Baltic Union or maybe rename it Nordic Union and combine it with Norway and Iceland but make its population really low.

Whether he was the senator or president at the time is classified for the moment. If you don't like him, just write up that he had a heart attack in his 13th month in office (one year has passed since the rest of the world has disappeared).

The world disappears. Europe remains.


Non-Europeans living in Europe return to their homelands after severe turmoil (1 year of chaos) to rebuild (think Israel).

This is off course only possible by the largest groups and even those are little more than pupet states that have to deal mostly with Europeans who want to exploit them as a casus beli to claim new lands legally.

The Musslims consider the disappearance an act of Allah, and several fatwahs are issued that they must repent by forming a new Caliphate. After trying unsuccessfully to do so in Southern France this they go and found New Mecca in Arabia (its the new holy city of Islam, they also build a replica of the Spiral Minaret and the University of Sankore) and several other settlements in parts of the former Muslim world. They have several settlers, imams and workers stuck in Europe

The Jews of Europe are distraught at what appears to be a disaster as great as the Shoah for them. With the support of the crumbling EU they found new Israel and settle the city of New Jerusalem. They have very low population but have mechanized construction equipment (simulated by lots of workers) and they get 5 gpt in aid from every Euro country except Russia. They have a few settlers & missionaries stuck in parts of Russia, it will take diplomacy to get them out.

Americans living in Europe try to sell off their military & navy that has remained from the event (was in Europe) or they become mercs, either way they try to rebuild America. Or if you are a very evil man, try to vasselize a European country while the others aren't looking. They start the game with New New York (size 1) and the French have been kind enough to give them a new Statue of Liberty before collapsing into anarchy. The fact that most of the survivors are in fact military men and that most of the "government" is an amorphous mishmash of generals, admirals and diplomats New New York also gets the Pentagon wonder. They have a few settlers still in various European states as well as military bases. It will be a test of diplomacy to see if they can get them out.

Similarly to the Jews their manpower is low, but unlike the Israelites they have a army to barter with. They also have a few settlers in Europe.

The Central African republic has two neighbors, size one cities of France and Britain (each has an airport), which should it choose as its colonial master? Which immigrants are more welcome British or French ones?

Or maybe split that civ up into two.

New South Africa

Civs are nominaly under Euro control and are colonies, but the immigrants want to use the wealth they gained with their hard work in Europe to make the new africa different. They have to wait and play nice though, lest Britain and France declare war and just size the workers & settlers stuck in Europe.

Also there are two UU that will be added:

A expensive setter for Britain, Germany, Italy, Russia.
And a cheap settler for any African, Muslim, Indian or Asian civ that the minorities from Europe manage to form.

Its a quick and dirty mod so that we can play as soon as possible.

The EU country may get a flag as may the other countries.

Proper British, Russian, French, American, ect. flags but these can be stolen from the WW2 mod.

I think there is already a "Europe" flag in the civ files, it has a Euro symbol and stars around it. I'm pretty sure.
