Ehhh, have you tried offering 2 vouchers per tech to a more advanced civ?

Or doing a favour for a civ, like fighting in a war and then trading one voucher for one tech.

Maybe you are slaving too much and your population is too low?

Maybe you are not connecting your cities and have no trade?

Maybe your army is too big for your economy?

Maybe you are building your cities too far apart?

ok to answer the above.

1. I have offered to trade to everyone i have met. For whatever reasons no one has done so.
2. War would be hard to do as one of the smallest civs in game.
3. slaves some pop early to get rid of barbarians but always monitored their hpapienss to make sure they keep working. Havent slaved for millenium now.
4. All cities connected by road.
5. Army is appropiste size for defence of my people from ramapgaing barbarians. I am sized about mid rank for army size over all , but when i was less army the babrbs were free to enter my lands. I believe in maintaing a minimum number of defneres in each city and a small number of offensive units to kill the babrbs before they can ruin developments.
6. My citys are spaced at about 4 tiles apart. Some are 3 tiles.

Stationing units outside your territory is more expensive than keeping them home. Do you have many units patroling against barbarians...


also do you go for advanced techs or do you prefer to have all the cheaper tech first? This is a common mistake people make, are you making it?

At present i have two units not in my cultural border. I am palying a peaceful civ so my goal is to not goto war so keeping defneders at home. but my two offensice units are stationed on hills jsutn outside my cultural border.

any less thn that and i would be too exposed.

I guess my lack of game expertise will show now.

When i target techs i look to what techs i need Eg. Workers techs. and get them. Then i look to future and see where i need to go. I was told i need courthouses so i Chose that tech and it automatically chose the techs i need to get to that tech.

I have no idea of what are the cheap or advanced techs so that is obviously my problem.

I think that only the 'islam' religion tech reveals a religion at this moment. The 6 other techs have already been discovered. There are 6 religions in the game so far.
