I played with it on a small map and it seemed okay, I have to admit I don't know much about the Austrailan Aborigines though, so I am no expert. If you all are interested some of the leaderhead choices annoyed me so I am currently editing the mod so it looks better, if you want I can put up a zip when I am finished.

EDIT: I deleted what pretty much resulted in a DP, but here's the rest.

The accuracy of civilizations (I mean they have the Papal States in this for f*ck's sake!!!) is not important, I am focusing on other additions. And I believe the total list of additions are...

          Italy
          the Goths
          Champa
          Inuit
          Aborigine
          Papal States
          Hurrians
          Hittites
          Minoans
          Nubians
          Polynesia
          Timurinds (Tamerlane's empire)
          Lydians
          Phoenicians
          Mexico

There may be more, I can't remember off-hand. I am not saying this is the greatest mod ever, but I haven't had a Memory Allocation Failure yet playing it, and I've had a good time with it too. While it may not fix every gripe we have with diplogames (tech situations, "vets" dominating," etc.) it may give us some room to improve our plight.

I dunno, I just liked it.

            Yeah, it's good.

Abo's are a civ btw. That's how they'd see it. They weren't just nomadic either. Some tribes actually had permanent settlements with solid bildings in Victoria I believe (southern Australia).

Custom civs are generally fairly unbalanced.

                Settlement =/= civ

dont let any aborigine hear you say that.

They have their own culture and way of living, much older than many civs in the game already.

Yes, I would definitely call the Australian Aborigines a civilisation.

Settlement not mandatory although Aborigines did settle as I posted above BUT also a highly specialised division of labour is a mark of civilisation.

                      ---

I just had a blazing row with my wife who says they are NOT a civilisation! But she's a pommie bastard - a ten pound pommie immigrant to Australia

Can someone definitively provide an answer here. Wikipedia seems to support the fact that they are a civ...

I don't think its important, its just a game.

I don't know enough about the Aborigines to comment, but I am sure they have a religion (or belief system), a language, some form of art, concept of a group or groups (ie semblence of tribe, nation, people), some form of military or defensive function, music, social norms, etc.

I don't know if all of that constitutes a civilization, but as far as I know all you need for this game is a leader and a citylist, and they have that.

Anyway, I've been working on this mod for those of you who like it and I've done a pretty good job so far putting in the proper leader-buttons, changing some of the leaderheads so they look a little more unique etc.

If anyone is interested in getting it when I am finished let me know.
