        • War is fun.

          My points:
          Space race is better
          National Units
          Advanced buildings and military units

It also dosen't change the tech tree before the late modern age.

            • The reason I didn't use cultural diversity is because a new edition is coming out and I thought it'd be out sooner but it isn't. Also it didn't have what-if units like the medieval/renaissance Egyptian/Babylonian/Roman etc. units so I wanted them to stick to their real culture. Roman are not Italians (in the modern sense) and Egyptians are not Arabs.

As for the Wilhelmina/Maria Theresa issue. I am aware that Wilhelmina was not really attractive, and Maria was (when she was young at least) pretty good looking. But that really isn't my intent by suggesting the new leaderhead. Its mainly because my current Wilhelmina leaderhead looks just like Elizabeth with a dye-job. I just wanted to add something different instead, and the fact that she's mildly attracative doesn't hurt either.

As for Next Warl; I agree that it would make the game more fun, and does extend the late game quite a bit. But the main reason it is going to be difficult is that the mod is already very large, we're already getting an error that we don't know the origins of, and I've done so much to this one I don't want to start over. I'd probably be more willing to do things like this if I was getting more help. But right now the only one really helping is MMC, and the few people who are making suggestions, like yourself, Ozzy, Ras, CS etc. But suggestions dont' get code written, so if I were to add Next War it wouldnt' be done until the current issues are resolved. And even then it may be problematic.

FYI; in the original idea for the Diplogame mod there were Next War techs, but that mod was shot down. Which is another reason.

              • Have you tried using World of Civilization to make things easier?

Also PLEASE take a look at the mesoamerican naval units, they just HAVE to be in....

I saw the MesoAmerican naval units, and I will probably put them in. My main concern right now, and I've spoken with Ozzy and MMC about this, is getting this one last python error taken care of. As I've said before, I don't know much about Python or any of that stuff, so its hard for me to read the python and just see what is missing. So if any of you know this stuff at all, or at least know people who do please DL the mod and try to help me out with it. The quicker the serious business gets done the quicker all of the little bells and whistles will be put in.

As far as extending the late game; I think now that Diplogames seem to be heading in a pitboss-only direction we should wait and see how games end before we decide to extend them. We could always add things to the mod at a later date, and while I do enjoy the Next War mod, and personally think it would be good to add it to the Diplogame mod. We've got to let things like that be debated and accepted by EVERYONE. Ozzy is right though, are we sure we want the game extended?

                      Yes.

Haven't you noticed that people tend to quit diplo games when it becomes clear who the winner will be? Sure they run for a while in that state but as soon as trouble comes by the players fall off one by one...

By making individual games longer we prolong the absolute time that people play a specific game perhaps extending it beyond what the time needed to complete a normal game would be.

Thus we can trick players into investing a full game's time worth, without playing a whole game.

                      Antother reason is that:

The endgame is always boring! In any game! The only difference is that more so in some than others.

So why not add an extra age at the end so we can still have a meaningful and fun modern era?

You've already answered your own question.

We need to see where Pitboss Diplo goes. But the problem is this is true of all the non-cosmetic modifications. And you will have a hard time finding people to commit to a new "real" diplo game untill the current one is finished.

We really need more hosts, or the diplo community will become a one horse town.

                        • With the new Voting adding to the Diplo game will be interesting to see how the end game pans out.

With no reward for in gmae victory conditions apart from Ingame score boosts, which is only worth 25% of final victory score. It shall be interesting to see how it pans out.

If it works well with a non in game pts leader winning overall will make it all very interesting.

In HOTW12 it made very little difference.

Some people are in the game to "win" and you can't change that even if you institutionalize the opinion that an "in game win" isn't enough to really win.

                            • Those that are in any DIPLO game solely to get the HIGHEST ingame score will eventually not return as there is no glory in winning just a part of the game.

DIPLO is not a normal civ game it has different rules and different winning criteria.

You are right we wont change some people, but they will find it less fun to come to stomp us in game but lose over all.

                              • Discussing rules of victory is not going to effect the mod at all. The only pertinent discussion is whether or not we want to extend the late game.

As far as the last python error issue goes; apparently when they made the SS mod, this was a mistake and is present in the mod. So we didn't actually do anything wrong. There are people looking at it, but they are saying that it looks like assassin/bribe missions may be too powerful, and that they may not be able to figure it out. So we are going to lose these missions. To sum up; the mod is up to date, everything works (that can work) and it is ready to go.

Now, we have to figure out what else we want/need to do from now on. Should we add Next War? Do we want to add anything else? After that I'll try to put the new stuff in and following that I'll release the last, and this time tested and finished, version.
