MMC's bad start may be because of a mistake I made. Maybe Ive accidentally removed his city and placed his settler in the water........... it may be pinchak as well though, maybe you guys should kill us both
My suggestion:
1. I'm going to fix MMC
2. I'm going to remove some land, just some stupid land, not resources, etc. Pinchak convinced me that it is pretty ballanced indeed.
Then we start again, and keep going under all conditions, except water starts of course
Once for all I must repeat that the map is fantastic! It really is, I'm defenitely going to play it in SP after this game. (ok, I'm 95 then, but you get the point)Formerly known as "CyberShy"

how many cities per player do you usually have room for on a huge map? isnt it around 15+?
I have no idea. never played huge, comp just grinds to slowness after turn 20 or so. but in large maps 12-15 cities per civ isn't abnormal at all. of course some of those may be quite marginal, but still...
I think it will be very interesting to see what we have. fix MMC's swim team and we can get back to business.
Do we have to play the first turn again?

Unfortunately we do have to play the first turn again
15+ cities is defenitely not usual in diplogames.
The diplogames I participated had an avg of 9 cities per civ, I think. Some less, some more.
I'll post the fixed map asap.Formerly known as "CyberShy"

Ok, the game has (re)started for the 3rd time. (and the last time)
I've done some minor tweaks. At most 25 tiles in total have been altered by me.
Please all play your first turn again!
It won't be resetted anymore, unless there's a real bug...Formerly known as "CyberShy"

Guys with the recent delays I really find it baffling some people are against my idea of having a 4 hour timer for the first 48 hours that follow this first turn. I mean heck Its not like I’ll log in more than once or perhaps twice a day with the 8h timers, it won’t be any different with the 4 hour timer. You enter the game once a day, you que up stuff, and you tell your explorer to go three tiles into the darkness.
I mean a 4 hour turn would mean, 6 turns per day. If you log in twice a day you can control every aspect of your civ the same as you would with an 8h timer!
I see no good reason why not to do this! Please people just stop and think about this, I mean it takes your first city around 10 or so turns to even get pop 2, this early in the game! No production is complete in less than 4 turns, ect.

@Pitboss Rome: I'm not sure what you do, but my first turns include exploring, exploring and exploring. I defenitely don't want to miss some goodie huts or walk into bears because I missed a turn.
I think you raised a valid point, but there's no support. It'll be 8 hours and our first week will be boring
Let's pimp it up by posting kewl stories!Formerly known as "CyberShy"

I just want to say how un-impressed I am with Classical Hero.
How dare you place yourself above the game.

The Holy Roman Empire has played the restart.
Let's stick to the 8 hours. It is a nice compromise between those saying it is too much, and those saying it is too little.
And I agree with the criticisms directed at those dropping the anonymous names. It was agreed to. You knew what you were signing up for. Please adhere to it for, as was mentioned above, the sake of the gaming experience.
May we meet in peace.

Well in my own defense, I said early on when anonymous names were being discussed that I was planning on using a custom civ that would make my name obvious. I asked if people were ok with a custom civ and they said they were. So my leader is gonna be "Ozzy of the Metalheads" anyhow, which doesn't seem to be all that much different from my current user name.
As for the map, I see some good things and bad things about my start, but I trust that Pin did a good job in balancing everything and I am really excited to explore it all.
I do share CS' concern about having too much land. Contrary to the person who said that if we each have many cities it'll make war more likely since we'll have less to lose, I think (and past experience shows) that war is less likely because we have less to gain from war. Small civs who have neighbors close in on every side have no choice but to go to war to get land. Throughout history wars were generally fought out of a competition for resources. Scarcity drives war. If there is no scarcity then there is no war. Diplo players are very logical. If they have more to gain from peacefully expanding and developing their land, they will do that because there is no risk. People only go to war if they need to for survival.
But overall I trust Pin's map, and think we shouldn't hold it up to endless scrutiny. Lets just play damn it!Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012
