    I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

      Damn, after a quick look at the leaders, i thought i only got to get one and that all the others sucked... now that i've tried a few leaders, can't even tell which one i like the most...

      As for the values, i think getting +20% gold per planet for the reminder of the game in a hut is quite overpowered, especially if someone else was a few turns from founding it by research.

      I tried the map script, and it's nice, so that's ok for me. BtW, how do you create new star systems in the editor ? I only get the circles, without a star or a planet.

      Epic game seems the best option. It will take us about a year, a little more. Marathon would be 2-3 years. But normal would definitively be too fast, even with the forge faction you only have a relatively small window before your units become obsolete, and you are always struggling building the buildings before you got new ones by techs. (I wonder how you do this with the science faction, with even faster teching and slower production O.o). On marathon, the first border pop would be at 150 culture, and you need the second border pop in order to access all your planets (not mentionning the ressources, even further away). A starbase costs 150 credits on epic, and takes 25 turns (IIRC) to complete... almost a month of playing ! So i would say epic for prod/tech balance and for being able to see an end of that game before getting retired

          Normal would be ok for me, but if I am the only one that wants it thats fine. A year is such a long time. The other values have powers that are almost as strong as that one. Also so I can't just want to kill someone because I want to kill them I can't be crazy? Ah well. I"ll have to get creative then.

          Are we expecting a one turn a day pitboss if so then we are going to be moving really really slow that is seven turns a week....we usually do about 30 to 40 in our other games correct?

            The slow moving game would give a real feel of interstallar distances IMHO

            We will have to wait at least a week for a colony ship to reach it's destination (that would already mean it travels about 220 times faster then light, assuming the distance being 5 LY on average !). Ok this has nothing to do with the game itself, but it's a nice thing.

            Another thing : Is anyone plaing that mod for "training" ? If so, are you noticing how much the AI does well with Paradise and Hali and how much it sucks with Brotherhood and Forge ? When i tried theese factions by myself, i didn't notice one of them being OP, so i wonder what makes them so different to the AI.

              I think no faction is over powerd for a human player. But I think one or two may be weaker than the others, the most experienced player should pick that one, just as an honor thing.


              But you are right this is mostly an issue of the AI. You see they didn't change the AI for this mod much since they where short on time to make this mod. Tha AI dosnen't even understand how to use stealth ships!!

              That is why Diplo MP will be soo much better than SP.

                we could have two AI groups and just not wipe them out as they will be way underpowered. Would be an honor thing.

                  Soft on the AI? We can agree on that, perhaps put them in a far off corner of the galaxy (perhaps get someon who isn't in the game to put them there). Then if midgame someone wants to join new players can come in.
                  I once again ask everyone to advertise this game everywhere they can.


                  We need to decide which factions the AI plays best and give the AI that.

                  Ok, we need a (good) host for the game.

                    Ai plays best with Halis and Paradise. No doubt on that.

                    Problem with the AI is their VERY invasive settling. And that you can't just have an agreement about not settling a star system with them.

                    I would suggest we just play with 6 factions. Who cares about being 8 ?

                            We start this monday.

                            The disscusion of rules is over (you can read them at the start of the thread), unless anyone thinks there is a big problem with them.

                            We need to decide who would be the best host!

                            As to leaders, tell me do you guys want anon? If you do we will need to ask Cybery if it is ok for us to PM him our leader choices (our 1st, our 2nd and 3rd choice, none of the complex stuff of the First Pitboss Diplo game) and if he could arrange anon accounts mail & poly accounts for us. (he did this for HOTW12 and is doing it for the first pitboss game)

                            If we are against annonimity each of the players can PM his first and second choice and I will make a list with as few as possible conflicts and post it here.

                              Ok in the next few weeks as the game starts we will also need a few experienced players to pool their imput to change the Ozzy score system so to encourage Diplo games.
