heh I am hosting a game currently. I don't think we need to go anom either. I would like to choose the science faction...university of planet (yes I know that isn't the name but you get the idea . Of course I am reading the thread and I for one loved the vid!

I also love your quote slovenia king. To many people forget the primacy of experiment in science.

From experiment in playing and hosting games I recommend we get a host that isn't playing the game. To many possible issues if the host also plays.

As far as I'm concerned we can start with one AI civ. Don't get me wrong I would love an extra player but if there isn't one we will go without him and leave the spot open for any players that would like to join us later.

Avowers of Knowledge I think. Ok you have them, anyone else who wants to decide on a civ send me a PM with choice no. 1 and no. 2, since there could be a bit of conflict as to who gets to pick what.

After talking to some of the players I've decided not to use anon for this game (very few players, about half against anon). So you have your wish.

Ok we need to get an outside host, does anyone have any ideas? If we find one by monday we can start then, if not we start when we find one.

You will be happy to know no player has PMed me so far asking for any of the agressive civs.

              Ah cool thanks.

Things I have found in playing the game
Vertical build up is much more important than horizontal build up (large population much more important than number of cities) Some how the AI can get cities with 8 to 9 people only 100 turns in not sure how they do that yet

Pirates seem to be weak especially early
The difference resources make can not be over stated
Choose early which path on the tech tree you want to go you are going to have to stick with it you can't change very well

Lets plz not use an AI... even if it means postponing the game for a few days. Trust me, there are alot of players who would give their right arm to be in this... if they knew about it.

And Herc, I too have been following this thread, just waiting for it to start. I will mail you my civ preferences tomarrow.

Also Herc, you said you want to go with anon. I hope you understand how much work goes into setting that up. New Apolyton logins, new email addresses, etc...

Can't wait for this to start, but more than willing to wait if it means getting it right the first time.

In the course of the thread I decided against it. We won't be using anon.

Also people we should really find a host, from what some people have said in this thread I assume having a player host could be a problem.

Ok, considering some people are against starting with one AI and since I have not recived the majoritiy of civ picks, I am assuming we will not start tommorw, having said that... If we do get a new player in time, we can still start tommorw.

dacole thanks for starting another thread that deals with finding a host. We should all be working on this since this is the only thing preventing us from starting the game...

Guys considering how long this game could be, would anyone be interested in jumpstarting it with a one or two hour session?

I can make it any time from Sunday afternoon 5.00 (CET) to Saturday monring around 7.00 (CET), 5 almost 6 days, as you can see I'm very felxible. There are only 7 of us (8 if we find another player). We should be able to work out one starting session. But in any case this is just an idea, we should really foucs on finding a host, I seem to have hit a bit of a dead end in asking guys I know.

I could host that starting session, but it seems it would be quite frustrating to start a game, waiting for a host to be continued.
