Carpathia and France i see you guys are trying your best to put us back on pace and I appreciate it VERY MUCH. But you should trust the people with more experience! Many of us the old timers have been this road so many times before, so we have a good idea whats going on.

The punishment for violating the code is impalement, correct?Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

hey fellas, gremlins in the machinery, this has happened before. anyway, we'll try again next session, if everyone is able, we'll run a test on friday or something to see if we can get everyone in. if we can, we save again when everyone's out.
the HOTW code should be followed, not just knowing it's there, actually checking step by step the points. remember, usually when your comp reboots, windows automatically turns back on firewall...
next week will work without a hitch.
however, I would like it to be known, for me to be hosting the game a half hour before start time is most difficult. I cannot guarantee it. but I will try next week.e-mail: diplo_mongolia [at] plomp.eu

I'm just saying that people need to take a hard look at their security first, then their internet connection. Direct IP might solve some of these problems, we use it for Rah's Saturday night game with a constently rotating lineup and little problems. Gamespy is notorious for being unreliable.Last edited by Pinchak; April 13, 2008, 19:15.

Pinchak you are right!
I guess being accustomed to seeing every game the waiting for your civ thingy reasures me that you know what you are talking about.Last edited by Diplo Inca; April 13, 2008, 21:07.

I hardly ever have problems in multiplayer Civ4 games... bottom line, end of story. If you want to suggest that I may be the problem you are only kidding yourself Inca. Sorry to have called you on your simplistic assesment of the problem. Don't take it personally. Just trying to improve things.
My suggestion is based on experience. We have never tried direct IP for diplogames, so forgive me for actually offering an intelligent alternative.
Never mind, I'll just keep my mouth shut from now on. This is only my second diplo game so what could I possibly know? I mean, it is not like I ever played civ until I found diplogames.

Ok, lots of attitude from everyone. Lets all just calm down.
Actually most diplogames have done Direct IP, and as far as I'm aware we had even more problems with it than the lobby. I'm not saying one is better than the other, just saying that we used direct IP for the majority of the last like 6 or 7 diplogames. So people are definitely familiar with it.
We had a failed session, of course it is frustrating, but these things happen. Holland was getting struck by lightening every 20 minutes, we had a sub with a questionable connection history, sometimes these things just happen and we lose a week. It sucks, but it happens.
Look on the bright side, we may have introduced a new person, agreatagent, to diplogaming and Mali & Ottoman don't end up missing a session. PLUS all you slackers get another week to write up some awesome posts.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012

Damn it, Inca. Quit the fighting. HOTW XI declined due to incessant bickering and fighting. Don't you and Pin mess up HOTW XII with it.
Everyone relax.

It is weird though. Rah's Saturday Night Game almost always goes without a hitch. HOTW seems to be almost the opposite. Perhaps it is because when someone has issues connecting in Rah's game we just tell them to leave.
