    Stay America!

We loved your stories and you have not done as poorly as you think! I really liked how active you were during the border dispute, and the war currently fought with the Mali has the attention of the entire world! You are friends with a strong civ with lots of cities, perhaps they could help you if you think you are too far behind?

Please don't go! The diplo players need you. They look up to you.

I would love subbing for HOTW11 tonight, but I can’t be certain if it will work, anyway I don’t want to incur the wrath of the Incas, since I might be what is considered a “bad sub”. Perhaps one of the other AI civs?

I was sleepy as well and made big early mistakes, I then started a plan, looking at the save each session before play, and trying to improve my situation. It worked! Well, before I could execute it all the way Nols took over and she did good as well. You can do the same, we all want to see America do good and even the Mali wouldn’t enjoy fighting the war as much if there was some other player. I’m not forgetting that you called for this diplo game to begin with!

Come on America - you are not serious I hope. Fool's day is too far still!

PLAY PLEASE - who cares about your game rustiness, just have fun.

You can't pull back now that you made us all play HOTW12

              Yes we have.

Joined and left a bunch of games today. Must have seemed like a jerk to all the poor players who had to tolerate me playing for just 10 turns, but hey what are the anon accounts good for anyway?

Can we start 15 min early tommorw? 4.45 GMT?

                        • I gifted one tech.

****ing hell, Carpathia. This isn't some random lobby game where you put your head down and just play. Diplomacy and negotiations are very important. I know you may be nursing a wounded pride, but some times you just need to talk. This is very poor form.

                          • also, I want to extend a huge vast and very snuggly thanks and big hug to Nolan for stepping in on such short notice to run Russia when it turned out daylight savings time has shortened our session somewhat.

with due likelyhood, most other places will follow suit and things will be back to normal, but until then, perhaps a diumvirate between Stalin and Nols would be a good way for us to get our 3 hours gametime, and noone lose out too much.

Also interesting was my initial technical difficulties. just goes to prove that sometimes there are gremlins in the machinery.

A third thing that I would like to take up is the most fascinating Carpatian-American war. unfortunately it seems to have fallen out of the diplo-realm and into the mad crusade to the bitter end-realm. i feel that carpathias complete lack of will to negotiate is a bit disturbing. I'm not making any personal attacks here, I'm just suggesting that the game will be richer if people actually use diplomacy as part of the bargaining chip. with extreme likelyhood, you would be able to get a far better result from a peace agreement than from a drawnout war.

                              • It was a great session! Too bad Mongolia had some problems with hosting, could the Incas host next time as well? (the Incas did host right?)

Some of us were aware that daylight savings starts in the US others not, in any case, our game time is set to GMT not by US time. If anyone is unable to play during the normal time of the session for any reason (this includes if your country changes to summer time) they should post. This situation will normalize in a few weeks when other countries switch to summer time.

Nols really saved us by jumping in first for the normal hour and then for the 30 minutes extension we agreed upon. Thank you Nols.

@Stalin: Perhaps until time zones are in sync again, you two could both run Russia. You until 3 after than Nols. She is a good player, she helped me catch up a lot. Also this could be worked into the story as a peculiarity of the monarchy used by Russia in this time. Perhaps two children would inherit the thrown, first the m ale would rule, then his sister. This policy would even make sense since it would maximize the chance for heirs by either the borther or the sister. Speaking of story, you haven¡¦t posted a lot in recent times. This is too bad your early posts were fun. Please post some more. If you feel you are behind talk to the other civs, I¡¦m sure some might be willing to help you catch up.

I have to agree with Ozzy, Carpathia not wanting to negotiate was bad form. Especially considering you started the war. How did the war even start? But I do think many players are underestimating Carpathia as a diplo players, I'm sure he just wanted to bargain from a position of strength (right?). But your position, Carpathia, just got worse, I understand you want to take advantage of your UB and UU but you are not doing that by fighting a loosing war. The rest of Terra is going ahead while the West fights. Remember the 10 tech rule will severely limit your ability to catch up. Take advantage of the Plomp Eu mail account and try to negotiate with America & Mali, if you don¡¦t like the deals you can still wage war in the next session (other players might not look upon that kindly though)

@Ozzy: Great job. I'm not sure how exactly you did it but you gained the upper hand in this conflict. America has really recovered. I still think Capo should stay with HOTW12 but if he can not it would be great if you could permsub , or at least sub until we find a player.
Also do you have the password to post as Diplo America, its MSN account and the Mail account provided by cyber? Especially the first and the latter might give you a better idea of American diplomacy as well as allow you to more effectively carry it out. Off course we know who you are, but there is a nice feeling writing to the American email addres. I mean hey, everyone knows who I am, but I won't drop this since it realy helps my immersion. Further more the mail address will become publicly available once HOTW12 ends. I make most of my diplomatic messages IC and even link them up with story precisely because I know people will be looking at them.

On a last note could we start next session 15 min early as well? And could the Incas post the last save, since I'm sure Stalin would like to take a look at it.

Also before I forget I traded Construction with Stalin, people please try to find techs to trade with more backward players. Soon such countries may have nothing left to trade! And they could be stuck! We don't want this since a game with 4 or 5 AI in the 1500's would be a bummer since HOTW12 is one of the best Diplo games ever.

This means I have used us 6 tech trades. I have 4 left.
