I think we can conclude that the 'old' HOTW7 timeslot will apply for HOTW8 as well now HOTW9 has started.

Do we agree on the rules?
I hope that the HOTW9 guys who'll be in HOTW8 as well will be able to fully play in 2 diplogames! Good luck to that!

I agree with the rules, of course me and deity will be playing in HOTW8. Hehe already some issues are starting to form in HOTW9 - Franks work shifts. See what he says, we may have to adjust our time slot so we don't loss him. I hope he posts so we know exactly whats going on.

Ok, with HOTW9 underway it would be good for people to confirm once again that they are up for playing HOTW8 still, and also confirm that you want the same civs. I know that Nolan is using Ramses in HOTW9 too.

Do you still play on the Earth map?

Have you considered applying one religion to each player and enforcing that as the nations relgion for whole game, with players ROLE Playing that.

How about enforced civics too.

Seems to me , too much discussion on how to make game even so anyone can win without discussuon on what HOTW is , that is a ROLE PLAYING game for Civilisation. It is irrelevant who wins or loses as long as people have fun in the Role playing,

So seems to me that setting a civs civics and Religion for game from start would open many more roleplaying options without people haveing to consider is their decisions afecting their chances of winning

As the Arabs in HOTW7 I can tell you that religion was most definitely a very big part of my game and role playing. As it was in HOTWV when I was the Indians and founded Hinduism.

Setting civics or religions only takes away opportunities to role play instead of creating them. For example, in HOTWV Kuno founded Christianity at 30 AD which was amazingly perfect.

Religions ARE very important in the game, but not all religions. In HOTW5 Judaism was important (not because of it's size, but because of it's story) and in HOTW7 Krishnianity was an important part of my stories. Not all religions become that important, but that's like the real world again. (not that that's good in itself)

I don't like the idea to fix religions or civics. But it's nice indeed if people stick to a theme and try to play it all the way through. (that's why I was THAT MUCH opposed to UN-civic voting. Why would we force Freedom of Religion on Ozzy? that's his role!)

Well, I know it's being discussed now but it's part of the game mechanics and I've assumed it as a strategic device. Religion has had a big role in the game so I'd vote for allowing the same game mechanics in future HOTW games.
