i had points but i was behind in techs. it was a paper lead, so when you he declared war i thought i might take advantage. Unfortunately my troops weren't up to the task. But at least they were able to defend against the retaliation.

When two people declare war on somebody, that should be enough. A third wouldn't have seemed fair. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Actually, RAH and I were happily trading, and we confirmed neutrality before I sent my stuff after Gibsie and took that border town. I was a little surprised when GC declared war on me, but I knew that RAH would be attacking him in a few turns, so I was not overly concerned. I believe that I had the tech edge with my cannon, and I was three turns from Railroad when we called the game (machine gunners). I also had many cities (although I think RAH may have had more) and was slowly bleeding Gibsie's defenders through attrition.
It was nice being able to see into RAH's and GC's border cities, although GC did a good job hiding his real troops from prying eyes of my religious followers. Right until RAH declared war, all I could see in GC's towns were a couple of Beserkers and Longbows. After the DOW, a huge stack of Riflemen moved into the city.Last edited by MasterDave; February 5, 2007, 17:38."Cunnilingus and Psychiatry have brought us to this..."

Actually I wasn't going to mention that we were trading that game since we're usually fighting.
IT was funny since I didn't have intel on GC but knew he got to lib first, I wasn't sure if he went the calvary or rifle route. So, I sent 7 or 8 stacks of 1 ele, 1 cannon, and 1 or 2 grenadeirs, figuring the eles would help against the calvary and the grens would help against the rifles. Either did neither and the stacks were promply disposed of without the cannons firing much. hahahahhah I had hoped that i might catch his main attack force moving towards you.
At least I was able to defend when the remnants of his now highly experience troops came at me.It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Aztecs are a good multiplayer race
Something else I learned on Saturday: The game was another random civ one, and I got the Aztecs. I had never played the Aztecs either single or multiplayer, and they are actually a very strong race for early war. They also have spiritual and aggressive, two very nice traits for multiplayer, along with starting out with Mysticism (although this game started early and I had to take over an AI, which played the first 10 turns or so, so I did not get a chance to get an early religion).
Jaguar Warriors do not need any resources, so you get them as soon as you learn iron working, and with Barracks you suddenly have Combat I and Woodsman I and one more promotion. Most of the Jaguars I sent after Diety Dude and then Snotty were Woodsman II, zipping through the thick jungles and forests like crazy. This unit would probably sorta suck in a more deserty/ flood plains area, being str 5, but it excelled in the deep woods. Some of the Jags I gave city raider one (they already get 10% for being swordsmen). Once I had two GG's, my jags were coming out of two cities with Combat one, Woodsmen II, AND city raider one. That was awesome, and allowed me to burn down two of Snotty's cities on the same turn- a true deathblow.
I did not really notice much of a difference with the Sacrificial Altars and whipping unhappiness. I did have a lot of happy resources through trade, though, so I probably did not really need that bonus in this particular game."Cunnilingus and Psychiatry have brought us to this..."
