Except for a few glitches, I was impressed how fast the game moved. Well done.

And just a reminder, there usually is a game on saturdays.

This from the person who was bragging in game about being the first person to eliminate another player, then proceeded to get into wars with all three of his remaining neighbors (including me).

I think you did the "cut-throat" thing very admirably

It was a fun game- you really get some crazy dynamics with nine players. In fact, it was so crazy that Snotty's strategy of declaring war on just about everyone actually worked and he was 1st in tech and score when we finally called the game....

For the record I only declared war on one of those three.

And I figured I was being careful by not allowing you to get your religion in my civ, so I went with the religion from a minor civ that wouldn't be a threat. But then that civ got overrun by Snotty and suddenly a main contender had eyes into all my cities .

Of course Snotty benefited more from circumstance than strategy imho. For one he was financial, which I still think is the most powerful trait in the game. Second he had a small neighbor to overrun (me too). Third he didn't have any real big/powerful neighbors (unlike me) so he could send his army far from home and attack people without fearing for his own cities.

Also he didn't jump up in the rankings like MasterDave and I so wasn't perceived as a threat as much.

I did make some errors though. I should have just turtled after I wiped out kbarrett. I got greedy though and figured I had an opportunity to knock down my biggest rival while he was distracted and take some good territory for myself. I was definitely caught off guard by Snotty's attack, but he didn't do too much damage. The city he destroyed wasn't all that great and should have razed it when I first captured it anyhow.

He did tie up my forces in the north waiting for his next attack. And of course bringing Gibsie into the war against me hurt. I can imagine the dance MD did when all his enemies started fighting each other.

Well, at least in one session long games you don't have to worry about making a mistake. The results are not long lasting. It makes for a fun game, because people can experiment more and take a few more chances.
I think people learn more quickly in this environment.

Building more than 2 cities is generally a good idea. Especially in a cut throat, non-diplogame.

Well we're again looking for players for tonight. Start time will be determined by having enough players.
I'll be around about 5 US central to organize.

If you interested, posting here will help me out. ICQs are also helpful.

I hope we can get another large game like last week

For those new to the game, we've been playing noble, no tech trading and random civ selection. regular speed.
