hey guys, I have a question. What size maps and speed do you usually play on. I saw a game took only 2 hours or so and that seems really fast. My epic games on prince take about 30 hours.

also, what do you set the AI level to? And, what age do you ussually get to. for example, if you ebd in say the middle ages, then being the USA isn't much good

we generally don't play epic, also smaller maps mean shorter games, as do technical difficulties.

Some games are shorter than others. (like my last one hahahah, I was neutered quite quickly) We've been known to go as long as 5 to 6 hours and get past calvary. Usually by then though the game has been already decided. The first to calvary usually takes advantage of it. When we have a lot of players the farther it usually gets.

Some people will drop if the game goes on long, due to almost elimination or just other commitments.

we play normal speed on maps slightly larger than the a lot of people like. It depends on the number of players.
You don't want people eliminated in the first 50 turns. But not way too big. It varies week to week. We have experimented with map types and settings, but it's nicer when you can reach everyone earlier in the game.

The only consistent thing I've seen is no tech trading.

Let's see, 4 PM PDT, means 7PM EDT which means 3 AM here. wow, that might be tough. 5 PM PDT would be better for me, but if it does not change I will still try and make it. I may be very sleepy

Ok, combat question...sort of. In MP my understanding is that everyone plays at the same time. So, how does combat work? It is just a click-a-thon? Also, wat happens if someone finishes the same world wonder during the same turn?

the late nights are tough for euros, make sure you get enough sleep before or after the game or else you will wreck your sunday and regret playing.

I hear that the wonder which has the most overflow production is the one thats built, but I cant remember the source for that so its probably wrong

Combat can be a pain and has its own logic that you will need to learn. Its mostly just about having the right settings in options and proritizing which unit/stack it is that you want to move earliest in the turn
